Description

The role is a Tactical Communications Lab Test Engineer based in Getafe, Madrid, at the company's Flight & Integration Test Centre.

You will work in a multidisciplinary, multicultural team that supports the company's major aircraft and defence programmes, including Eurofighter, A400M, C295, Eurodrone, SIRTAP, Helicopters and FCAS.

The work suits someone who likes hands-on work with complex systems, digs into test data, and rigorously checks how systems perform. You should enjoy technical problems, fault-finding and finding practical fixes.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse technical documentation and design requirements, then build consistent rig test cases, procedures and test specifications for rigs and validation environments.
  • Prepare the pre-test data: simulation requirements, test scripts, initialisation files and tactical scenarios.
  • Run test steps on virtual test environments, subsystem rigs and global system integration rigs, using tools such as MaTE, AIDASS or datalink simulators, and support ground and flight testing on aircraft.
  • Evaluate system behaviour, analyse results and write detailed test reports.
  • Raise and track equipment and system problem reports through their full lifecycle, and carry out in-depth root-cause investigations.
  • Manage lifecycle control tools (DOORS, Octane, FTNet) and specify custom test tools for decoding, emulation and automation, including their qualification.

Requirements

  • A BSc or MSc in Telecommunications Engineering, Radiocommunications, Industrial (Electronics) Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 2 to 6 years of system testing experience, hands-on or hands-off rig testing, on tactical, mission or safety communication systems or similar technology.
  • Deep knowledge of communications systems under test, including tactical datalinks (Link 16, Link 22, VMF), SATCOM, V/UHF radios and communication servers, plus test support tools.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment and simulators such as 1553 databus analysers, TIGER, MIGATO, LEGS, AIDASS and LabVIEW.
  • Skill in interpreting requirements, writing test scripts and assessing system behaviour.
  • Advanced English and Spanish, spoken and written.
  • Strong soft skills: proactive problem solving, open-mindedness, teamwork, working autonomously, good networking, and meeting strict milestones.
  • Desirable: an active NATO security clearance, or eligibility to obtain one, and eligibility for ITAR and national export control authorisations.

Conditions

Permanent contract at the company Defence and Space SAU, professional experience level, in the Testing job family.

Hybrid working where possible.
