Systems Engineer

Description

You will join a team that performs technical risk analysis on enterprise and operational mission systems, networks, devices and applications.

The work covers many of the sponsor's initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain back-end systems in Python and Neo4J that scale, stay secure and remain highly available.
• Work with the development team to pin down and rank project requirements.
• Build and look after Neo4J databases so the data stays accurate, fast and able to grow.
• Write efficient, scalable Python that follows accepted practice and coding standards.
• Partner with developers to ship high-quality software.
• Guide and coach junior developers on technical matters.
• Run and maintain Kubernetes clusters on AWS for availability, scale and security.
• Tune Kubernetes deployments for speed, cost and reliability.
• Apply strict security protocols and compliance rules in high-security settings.
• Put security best practices in place and protect sensitive data.
• Design and run thorough test plans that confirm software quality and reliability.
• Review code against standards and best practice.
• Diagnose and fix complex faults alongside developers and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or the ELK Stack.
• Knowledge of graph algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with other programming languages such as Java or C++.
• Optional: AWS Certified Developer certification at Associate or Professional level.
• Optional: Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Kubernetes Developer (CKAD) certification.
