Description

The network advanced manufacturing engineering team is hiring a Vision Systems Engineer III to build and scale next generation vision inspection across the company's plants.

You will be the technical lead for offline vision inspection, starting with the company's current vision platform, and turn new technology into manufacturing solutions that work at several sites.

This is not sustaining engineering. You will work across manufacturing, automation, software and data, build new capabilities, and set approaches other sites can adopt. You will take a vague problem to a reliable fix while building the know-how that lets others succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Build, test, tune and maintain vision detectors and the image datasets used to train and check them.
  • Link vision settings to SKUs, bills of material and manufacturing data so inspection is specific to each product.
  • Design and integrate vision hardware, software, databases, networks, controls and manufacturing system interfaces.
  • Diagnose detector and system faults, find root causes and build solutions that scale.
  • Help with testing, validation, rollout, startup and ongoing improvement at several plants.
  • Write technical standards and coach site engineers so they can run and extend deployed systems on their own.
  • Work with engineering, operations, quality, IT, OT, software staff and vendors to close technical gaps and move the program forward.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, automation or a closely related technical field.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant technical engineering experience. Backgrounds in machine vision, automation, manufacturing systems, controls, systems integration, software development or similar disciplines are all strong fits.
  • Systems thinking and comfort solving problems that cross traditional engineering boundaries.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar technology quickly, spot missing capability, and build solutions from past experience when no playbook exists.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, hands-on technical work and changing responsibilities.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate across sites and disciplines without formal authority.
  • Beneficial: experience in several of these areas, though not all are expected: machine vision or computer vision; Python or software development; PLC programming, Ignition or industrial controls; SQL, databases, networking, APIs or system integration; Agile software workflows; software testing, validation, configuration management or lifecycle management; integrated manufacturing or multi-site technology deployments.
  • Beneficial but not required: prior experience with the company's vision platform.
