Description

The role is a Systems Architect SME on a mission-critical communications program that supports field-to-base operations worldwide.

The program is a major cloud modernization effort that moves legacy systems to a cloud-first architecture, run in an agile environment.

You will provide technical leadership on a high-visibility program supporting national security missions and work hands-on with cloud, development, and infrastructure technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Track and manage all project requirements in Jira, the approved electronic repository.
  • Own the overall system architecture, turning business needs and changing requirements into a coherent, buildable technical vision for the portfolio.
  • Connect infrastructure, data, and applications so interfaces, monitoring, and audit capabilities integrate cleanly and the data layer stays compatible with infrastructure, operating systems, and middleware.
  • Build alignment with a wide range of stakeholders, gathering input from technical teams, mission partners, and leadership so the architecture reflects real operational needs.
  • Set the technical direction by maintaining a living roadmap and tracking industry trends to recommend the right technologies and techniques at the right time.
  • Champion sound, scalable, and secure design, holding development to a high standard as systems evolve and modernize.
  • Track requirements systematically and govern the architecture through applicable reviews and control gates.
  • Develop and recommend guiding principles, definitions, and standards for system assets, including a thorough automated test approach.

Requirements

  • You have 15+ years of related experience.
  • You hold a bachelor's degree in arts or science (BA or BS).
  • You currently hold a TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
  • You are a US citizen.
  • You bring skills in collaboration, innovation, and systems architecture.
  • You have cloud services experience; certification in a cloud technology the customer uses, such as AWS, Azure, Oracle, or Google, is preferred.
  • You have event bus programming experience with publish/subscribe technologies and messaging products such as MSMQ, RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, and/or Amazon SQS.

Conditions

The role is onsite in Chantilly, VA, USA, for 40 scheduled hours per week.

Travel is required for less than 10% of the time.

The likely salary range is $264,350 to $357,650. Final pay depends on experience, geographic location, and possibly contract terms, and may fall outside this range.

As part of hiring, you will complete an identity verification process using biometrics and AI, and you must be on camera for virtual interviews.

The company is an equal opportunity employer that welcomes individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.

Benefits

  • Medical plans, some with Health Savings Accounts, plus dental and vision plans.
  • A 401(k) with pre- and post-tax contributions up to IRS limits and a company match.
  • Full flex work weeks where possible and paid time off for vacation, sick and personal days, holidays, parental, military, bereavement, and jury duty leave.
  • Short and long-term disability, life, accidental death and dismemberment, personal accident, critical illness, and business travel and accident insurance, provided or available.
  • An AI-powered career tool that suggests career steps and learning, and an internal mobility team to help you reach your goals.
  • A military-friendly workplace with an award-winning culture of innovation.
