Description

The role sits within the product team but works as a shared-service resource, supporting Sales Operations and other business areas with distribution analysis, executive reporting, and decision-support insight.

You will build and improve Power BI dashboards that show leaders performance, trends, and opportunities, and support sales compensation design, metric development, and strategic analyses of business performance, channel effectiveness, and operational results.

You will help teams define meaningful success measures and use data to guide decisions.

The company is a mutual insurance company owned by its policyholders across Iowa and South Dakota, with over 80 years of operation. Its focus is the well-being of its members, and it values service, sustainability, and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze distribution channel performance, find ways to make each channel more effective, and help sales leadership consider possible shifts in strategy.
  • Work with business stakeholders to build a full picture of internal and external sales channels and use it to shape recommendations.
  • Identify the data needed to monitor product teams, show how initiatives deliver customer value, and provide data to help set priorities.
  • Apply your knowledge of distribution channels to influence stakeholders on sales strategies and reporting goals, and help carry them out and maintain them.
  • Evaluate, administer, and implement sales incentive plans, including performance goals and metrics, plan design, consulting, and communication.
  • Monitor plan rules, guidelines, performance measures, and weights. Document rule conflicts or compliance issues, mediate their resolution, and prepare analysis and rationale for the Compensation Review Board.
  • Work with Finance, Sales, and Human Resources on cost-benefit evaluations and program rollout.
  • Recommend strategy for distribution channel performance and design, including agency pay for performance, minimum book of business, agent certification and recertification, and new agent training.
  • Produce complete, accurate, and timely reports that others can easily use. Track Agent of Record, SPIFF, draw, and other activity that affects plans, and recommend plan changes backed by quantitative evidence.
  • Track sales trends and related compensation components, gather data for routine and one-off requests, prepare quantitative and qualitative reports, spot segment and channel trends, and give sales and marketing teams the input they need to meet business plan targets.
  • Make sure accurate, actionable reports on close ratios, net growth, profitability, and sales and retention are available and accessible to the right users via the web or internal systems.
  • Take on other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Required: a bachelor's degree or equivalent direct, applicable work experience.
  • Required: 4+ years of experience collecting, analyzing, reporting on, and presenting data, and turning it into insights that support business decisions on your own.
  • Required: a track record of advising and influencing decisions with sound judgment and data analysis that drives good business outcomes.
  • Required: advanced skill in Excel, Access, and Business Objects or similar tools, with the ability to learn new systems quickly and produce ad hoc reports.
  • Required: strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, plus natural curiosity.
  • Required: careful attention to detail and a proven ability to check data for accuracy and validity.
  • Required: strong written, verbal, and presentation skills for audiences ranging from operational teams to key decision makers and executives.
  • Required: strong interpersonal skills to build collaborative, trusted relationships, and be the subject matter expert others go to.
  • Required: ability to manage projects independently, follow through, set work plans and business rules, and document administrative methods and procedures.
  • Required: self-starter with strong organization, able to juggle priorities in a fast-moving, changing environment and adapt to change.
  • Required: you have a mindset of data-driven, structured problem solving and enjoy bringing order to ambiguous problems, with a focus on measuring success.
  • Preferred: a master's degree.
  • Preferred: a documented history of consulting and presenting to business leaders, including senior executives.
