Storage Architect (NetApp & Ceph) (m/w/d) – Winterthur Area

This is a senior technical role for a storage architect working on enterprise NetApp and Ceph platforms. You will set the direction for storage design, performance, scalability and resilience, lead complex projects, take on critical escalations, and turn business and infrastructure needs into sound storage solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, roll out and oversee enterprise storage architectures built on NetApp and Ceph.
• Advise on storage performance, availability, scale and resilience.
• Define and maintain data protection, backup, recovery and lifecycle policies.
• Support CSI integrations and storage services for container and cloud-native platforms.
• Lead capacity planning, performance analysis and storage tuning.
• Be the point of escalation for complex storage incidents, including root cause analysis.
• Write storage standards, operating procedures and governance frameworks.
• Keep storage platforms secure, supportable and in line with the wider infrastructure architecture.
• Work with compute, cloud, Kubernetes, networking and security teams on end-to-end platform design.

Requirements

• A substantial track record in designing and running enterprise storage environments.
• Strong skills in NetApp ONTAP, NetApp AFF A-Series systems and Ceph.
• Solid grasp of storage architecture, data protection, replication, high availability and disaster recovery.
• Experience connecting enterprise storage with virtualized, cloud and containerized environments.
• Proven record of solving complex storage and infrastructure problems.
• Good stakeholder management, analysis and communication skills.
• German at B2 level or higher, mandatory.
• Ability to join technical discussions, architecture reviews, incident coordination, service reviews, change management and daily work with German-speaking stakeholders, customers and operations teams.
• Swiss citizenship required.
• Preferred: NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA).
• Preferred: NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer (NCIE) for ONTAP, SAN and/or Data Protection.
• Preferred: Red Hat Ceph Storage Administration certification or equivalent Ceph training.
• Preferred: Further security, network, storage or compute infrastructure certifications are an advantage.

Conditions

Based in the Winterthur area, Switzerland.

Live in or be regularly available within the Winterthur region, to coordinate with onsite and remote-hands teams and attend governance, escalation and service review meetings when needed.
