Description

The company is a $30+ billion business and technology services provider serving 75% of the Fortune Global 100, with experts in more than 70 countries. Its parent group invests over $3 billion a year in R&D.

The team is looking for a cloud migration technical lead to run enterprise migrations, mainly to AWS, with Microsoft Azure experience counted as a strong plus.

This is a hands-on delivery role that combines technical work, leading migration teams, owning technical decisions and managing customer expectations, from discovery to cutover and hypercare. It is not a pure architecture, consulting or project management position.

Responsibilities

  • Take technical ownership of migration projects from discovery and assessment through planning, execution, cutover and stabilization.
  • Lead the customer-facing technical conversations and coordinate the Cloud Foundation, Migration Execution, Networking, Security and application teams.
  • Act as the technical anchor for the customer across several delivery PODs.
  • Independently lead customer migration engagements with little technical supervision, and keep customer context and technical accountability when working across shared PODs.
  • Design and check migration strategies for VMware, physical and virtual servers, Windows and Linux workloads, and enterprise applications.
  • Run application dependency assessments, wave planning, sequencing, rollback planning and technical risk management.
  • Choose the approach for each workload, such as rehost, replatform or selective modernization.
  • Review AWS Landing Zone readiness across connectivity, IAM, networking, security and operations.
  • Troubleshoot complex migration failures and support critical production cutovers.
  • Keep architecture decisions, runbooks, technical documentation and stage-gate acceptance criteria up to date.
  • Mentor engineers, validate technical estimates, and improve migration automation and repeatability.
  • Reduce migration failures, technical escalations and cutover risk, and raise delivery quality and engineering productivity.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in IT infrastructure and cloud technologies, including 5+ years of cloud migration delivery.
  • Hands-on experience leading production migrations to AWS, ideally for several enterprise customers.
  • Strong AWS infrastructure skills across EC2, EBS, VPC, IAM, Route 53, CloudWatch, AWS Backup and related services.
  • Practical use of AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) and other workload migration tools.
  • Solid knowledge of VMware vSphere, Windows Server, Linux, DNS, Active Directory, storage and networking.
  • Experience with migration discovery, dependency mapping, wave planning, testing and rollback strategies.
  • Ability to diagnose connectivity, performance, replication, operating system and application issues during migrations.
  • Understanding of AWS security, hybrid connectivity, IAM, routing and network segmentation.
  • Experience leading engineers and explaining technical risk to customers and stakeholders.
  • Real production migration experience, including challenges, failures, cutovers and the lessons learned from them. This is the main selection criterion.
  • Nice to have: Microsoft Azure migration experience, including Azure Migrate and Azure Site Recovery.
  • Nice to have: experience with AWS Transform, RiverMeadow, CloudHedge or similar migration accelerators.
  • Nice to have: Azure VMware Solution (AVS), VMware HCX or NSX.
  • Nice to have: Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible or CI/CD automation.
  • Nice to have: AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, VPN, firewalls and advanced hybrid networking.
  • Nice to have: database migrations using AWS DMS or native database tools.
  • Nice to have: work in regulated environments, security compliance or complex enterprise transformations.
  • Nice to have: AWS Solutions Architect Professional or AWS Certified Advanced Networking certification.
