Staff Systems Engineer

Description

The Aeronautics Systems sector of the company is hiring a Staff Systems Engineer for its System Infrastructure Team in Melbourne, Florida, working as a Cloud Architect.

The role requires a Secret clearance to start and travel of up to 10% of the time.

Relocation assistance may be available.

Responsibilities

• You will design and manage the cloud infrastructure and make sure the cloud architecture meets program requirements.
• You will coordinate architecture decisions with the hardware and test teams.
• You will build and manage the development backlog for cloud-related software work.
• You will deploy product updates and set up the software factory, virtual machines, containers and orchestration.
• Because your work will strongly shape team productivity, you will need a working understanding of the software development lifecycle and of automation tools for building CI/CD pipelines.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of experience, or a master's degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of experience, or a PhD in a STEM discipline and 8 years of experience.
• An active U.S. Government Secret clearance or higher, with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or current enrollment in Continuous Evaluation.
• The ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable time, as set by business needs.
• Experience with cloud computing and hybrid on-premises solutions.
• Experience with Terraform or a similar infrastructure as code tool.
• Experience with Docker or a similar container technology.
• Experience setting up or administering a small to medium Kubernetes cluster.
• Experience with Kubernetes service mesh or a similar service mesh technology.
• Preferred: any cloud service provider certification (for example AZ-900, AZ-104 or AWS Cloud Practitioner).
• Preferred: Security+ certification.
• Preferred: Terraform Associate certification.
• Preferred: Vault Associate certification.

Conditions

The role is full-time and on-site at the facility. Remote, hybrid and telework are not available.

Travel of up to 10% may be required.

The primary level base salary range is $152,900.00 to $229,300.00. Final offers depend on factors such as the scope of the role and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
