Description

The company builds on a long record of work in advanced driving technology, including a hands-off driving system already on the road.

The autonomous vehicle program is expanding its product lineup with systems that aim to make autonomous and assisted driving safer and more reliable.

The Architecture and System Design team covers requirement definition, architecture and system design, integration, and validation across the autonomous vehicle organization.

This role leads system architecture work for the autonomous vehicle platform across one or more products and functional areas.

The work is collaborative, strategic, and technical, and it shapes platform roadmaps and long-term technical direction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end systems engineering for embedded autonomous vehicle and advanced driver-assistance platforms.
  • Define, document, and manage system-level requirements, keeping them traceable to product and safety goals.
  • Build and maintain hardware, software, and safety system architectures.
  • Weigh trade-offs between compute (CPU, GPU, NPU), memory (RAM), and Ethernet bandwidth.
  • Allocate, profile, and optimize system resources to meet targets for performance, power, latency, and reliability.
  • Define logical and functional architectures, including data flows and subsystem interactions, and show how the design meets safety and performance requirements.
  • Work with autonomy software, firmware, hardware, validation, and vehicle integration teams to keep the system design coherent and implemented correctly.
  • Help plan the technical roadmap and advise on future platform capabilities and scalability.
  • Identify integration and performance risks and plan how to mitigate them.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help build a team culture of technical excellence and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 6 years of systems engineering experience, ideally in embedded systems, automotive, robotics, or related industries.
  • A proven record of leading system architecture for complex embedded platforms.
  • Solid understanding of autonomous and ADAS systems, including embedded computing, sensor integration, and machine learning approaches to autonomy and robotics problems.
  • Hands-on experience with system modeling, simulation tools, and requirements management frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills and a record of working well across disciplines.
  • A proven ability to solve problems with high ambiguity.
  • Familiarity with automotive safety standards and practices is a plus.
  • Exceptional candidates may also have: an advanced degree (MS or PhD) in embedded systems, systems engineering, or a related field.
  • Exceptional candidates may also have: experience with embedded Linux or RTOS in automotive or robotics work.
  • Exceptional candidates may also have: familiarity with system-level debugging, profiling, and telemetry tools.
  • Exceptional candidates may also have: prior work at a leading AV company or tier 1 automotive supplier.
  • Exceptional candidates may also have: strong leadership skills, including mentoring engineers and leading technical projects.
  • Exceptional candidates may also have: experience shaping strategic technical roadmaps and platform evolution.
  • Exceptional candidates may also have: 6+ years of professional work experience.
