The company runs a web marketing platform that lets marketing teams build, manage, and optimize websites, and tens of thousands of new projects launch on it each month.
This role is for a senior infrastructure or SRE engineer who will make the customer-facing production systems behind the Convert area more reliable and stable.
Convert provides experimentation, personalization, and reporting tools that help growth teams earn revenue from their sites. Its work depends heavily on data, from high-volume event ingestion to real-time and analytical stores and the pipelines that feed them.
The company serves some of the world's largest enterprises and is building an AI-native conversion platform. You will work on a large, revenue-generating system alongside the engineers who build on it and help shape its direction.
This is a new position.
Responsibilities
Own and evolve the AWS cloud infrastructure behind Convert, including compute, serverless, networking, and day-to-day cloud operations.
Build and maintain the Pulumi infrastructure-as-code foundation, and improve the shared patterns and components other teams depend on.
Own the reliability, performance, and cost of the data infrastructure, including streaming and batch pipelines and analytical databases.
Improve scalability and reliability of distributed, event-driven systems such as Druid, MongoDB, and Airflow, with a focus on low latency.
Set SLOs, build observability, plan capacity, and keep data fresh, accurate, and available as volume grows.
Improve dashboards, alerts, and SLOs for your systems so issues are caught before customers notice and on-call pages are actionable.
Lead projects from design through launch that advance team and engineering organization goals.
Write and review maintainable, tested, performant code and automation, and raise the quality bar across the team.
Build AI-powered automation, such as policy-as-code, drift detection, and LLM-assisted runbook generation, and use AI tools in your daily work.
Help the team build reliable systems.
Requirements
BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
Business-level fluency in English to read, write, and speak.
5+ years owning and operating cloud infrastructure in a customer-facing environment where downtime is barely tolerated. Your background is in infrastructure, SRE, or cloud engineering with a taste for automation and code, or in software engineering with a strong interest in cloud and distributed systems.
Deep hands-on experience with AWS and a clear idea of what good cloud operations look like.
Experience with infrastructure as code in Pulumi or Terraform, and a preference for making changes through code rather than consoles.
Experience running high-throughput, data-intensive distributed systems in production, such as Druid, MongoDB, or Airflow, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency trade-offs, and performance tuning.
Fluent in Python or TypeScript/Node.js for automation and tooling, and able to read and work in Java services.
Treat observability as the foundation of operations, designing SLOs, dashboards, and alerts that surface issues early and produce actionable pages.
Handle incidents well, including on-call work and blameless postmortems, and fix root causes rather than just closing tickets.
Care about developer productivity, with CI/CD, tooling, and paved paths that let product engineers ship without owning infrastructure.
Bonus: experience with Apache Spark, Airflow, or TensorFlow.
Bonus: familiarity with Kafka or other event streaming platforms.
Bonus: experience building AI-assisted infrastructure tooling, such as cost optimization loops, anomaly detection, or policy-as-code with LLM help.
Bonus: experience contributing to multi-region architecture, including data residency, regional failover, or latency-based routing.
