Description

The company is a media and entertainment business operating worldwide through three segments: Studios, Direct-to-Consumer and TV Media.

The Growth team is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to design, build and evolve the core systems and experiences that drive audience growth, engagement and monetization across the company's digital platforms.

This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who likes hard technical problems, leads by example and works closely with engineering managers, product, design, data and vendors to ship high impact, consumer facing software at scale.

The team mostly writes JavaScript for modern web architectures, using Node, Python and AWS, and connects internal platforms, third party services and cloud infrastructure. Tools include Svelte, Sass, AWS services, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and observability tooling.

Responsibilities

  • You are the technical lead on a team that is still forming, staying hands on while setting technical direction, raising engineering standards and guiding architecture.
  • Design scalable systems across the stack, shape technical choices and keep delivery quality high.
  • Work with your engineering manager and peers to remove blockers, lower risk and bring clarity to unclear problems.
  • Assess third party solutions and vendor platforms, integrate them, and make build versus buy calls that weigh speed, quality and long-term upkeep.
  • Lead technical design and architecture discussions for features and systems.
  • Build, run and maintain production systems and user facing applications.
  • Write well tested, high quality code and model good engineering habits.
  • Help define technical strategy, planning and delivery together with engineering managers.
  • Turn requirements from product, design, data and engineering into scalable solutions.
  • Find performance, reliability and security risks and drive fixes.
  • Review code actively and push the team's quality bar higher.
  • Coach engineers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
  • Improve developer experience, tooling and engineering practices.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of professional experience building and running production software systems.
  • Strong JavaScript skills, including modern ES6+ patterns, plus Node experience.
  • Track record designing and building scalable APIs and web applications.
  • Solid grasp of system design, performance tuning and application security.
  • Hands-on work with AWS services, CI/CD pipelines and observability tools.
  • Clear communicator who can explain technical ideas to different audiences.
  • Record of shipping high quality software in agile, fast moving settings.
  • Experience working closely with cross functional partners.
  • Drive to build user focused products with measurable impact.
  • Experience taking products to global markets.
  • Experience with growth experimentation frameworks or A/B testing.
  • Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks such as Svelte, Vue or React.
  • Experience integrating identity, authentication, payment or subscription APIs.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and automation.
  • Experience contributing to CMS or publishing platforms.
  • Background in media, streaming or direct to consumer applications.
  • You enjoy staying hands on while shaping technical direction and decisions.
  • You take ownership of complex problems and bring clarity to ambiguous areas.
  • You are a strong collaborator who lifts up the people around you.
  • You care about code quality, reliability and long-term maintainability.
  • You want to help shape how the company builds for growth and scale.
