Description

The company is building Apollo, a humanoid robot designed to work alongside people, starting in manufacturing and logistics with later uses in healthcare and the home.

The company works across the full robotics stack in applied AI, with the goal of bringing Apollo to market at scale and tackling safety, commercialization, and mass production.

The team relies on one simulation platform for every robot policy. It must train reinforcement learning policies quickly, validate controls accurately, and remain stable enough for daily use.

This is a staff-level role on the Core Simulation Platform team. You will help shape the platform's architecture and build it alongside senior engineers, using strong C++ and Python, robotics fundamentals, and modern simulator experience.

Responsibilities

  • Help design and build high-performance digital twins that underpin policy training, controls validation, and CI/CD integration tests.
  • Help build and scale cloud-native simulation pipelines that produce millions of experience hours daily, with physics and rendering run in parallel to speed up policy iteration.
  • Improve sim-to-real transfer by refining contact models and actuator dynamics so policies trained in simulation work on physical humanoid hardware.
  • Build sensor-realistic environments with camera, LiDAR, and depth data, using varied, dynamic worlds to stress the perception stack.
  • Ship platform changes that clearly cut iteration time for the RL, controls, and perception teams.
  • Partner with the Controls, AI Research, and Perception teams to meet their changing simulation needs as the platform grows.

Requirements

  • Strong skills in C++, Python, or both.
  • Solid grounding in software best practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality.
  • Working knowledge of kinematics, dynamics, controls, and system identification.
  • Hands-on experience with modern robotic simulators such as Isaac Lab, MuJoCo, or similar.
  • Knowledge of reinforcement learning and VLAs, gained through research or production work.
  • Experience running large parallel training workloads on AWS, GCP, or Azure, using distributed frameworks such as Ray or Kubernetes.
  • A Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years in robotic simulation, software engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Prolonged sitting at a desk and computer work.
  • Occasionally lift 15 pounds.
  • Ability to read printed material and a computer screen.
  • Ability to hear and speak to communicate.

Conditions

The annual salary range is $260,000 to $290,000.

This is a direct hire position. Agencies should not submit candidates.
