Java Software Engineer (Junior, Mid-Level or Senior)

Description

The company is hiring a Java software engineer at junior, mid-level or senior level. The architects team covers the full software lifecycle, from gathering requirements and analysis through design, coding, unit testing, implementation and maintenance.

The team is modernizing how payment solutions are delivered using cloud-native technologies, AWS, Kubernetes, microservices, DevOps and AI-enabled development.

The core duties stay the same at every level, but the scope of work, autonomy, technical depth and leadership expected will depend on the level you are hired at.

Responsibilities

• Write and build code on your own or with your team leader, and take ownership of the quality of your output.
• Check deliverables for accuracy, content and possible system impact on your assigned tasks.
• Assess whether deliverables meet their objectives, and give feedback and recommendations.
• Learn how projects are delivered end to end and how the SDLC works.
• Solve problems and support clients.
• Set and uphold coding standards.
• Work with project managers, senior management and clients to put solutions into practice.
• Partner with international banking clients and internal stakeholders on business and technology change, building payments expertise as you go.
• Help connect systems to external platforms, payment networks, digital channels and third-party tools, including moving data off legacy platforms.
• Drive software quality, automation and continuous improvement while meeting industry standards and compliance rules.
• Contribute to modernization work using cloud-native tools, microservices, containers, DevOps and AI-assisted development.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems or a related field.
• Hands-on software development experience with Java.
• Very good understanding of object-oriented design and development.
• Experience building enterprise applications with Spring Boot, relational databases, SQL and REST APIs.
• Good experience with Git version control.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work well with both technical teams and customer representatives.
• Added bonus: experience with cloud-native platforms such as AWS, Docker and Kubernetes, or with microservices and containerized architectures.
• Added bonus: exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD tooling, including Git and Jenkins.
• Added bonus: front-end experience with React.js, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3, or Oracle PL/SQL development.
• Added bonus: experience in payments, such as card issuing, acquiring, payment networks, tokenization, digital wallets, Visa, Mastercard or real-time payments.

Conditions

Full-time position with a hybrid model: part from home and part from the office.

Offices are located opposite the Mall of Cyprus.

Competitive salary with a pay range of EUR 27,000.00 to EUR 37,000.00 for new hires in this role, level and location.

Actual starting pay depends on skills, experience, and relevant education or training, and can also be affected by a change in work location.
