Description

The company is changing how software gets built, using AI across team structure, decision-making, and how quickly ideas become working code.

Engineers own problems from start to finish, work closely with product, design, and business partners, and get fast feedback and direct access to stakeholders.

The team ships often and learns quickly. When work isn't succeeding, it gets discarded and restarted, and a failed project is not treated as a personal failure.

Engineers use AI to test tradeoffs, challenge designs, and get from problem to solution in hours rather than days, saving their attention for decisions that need human judgment.

The extra speed is meant to fund better test coverage, stronger architecture, and closer customer understanding, and the quality bar is higher because of AI.

The tech stack includes Ruby on Rails, AWS, Sidekiq, MySQL, and Redis.

The company is a platform for expecting and new families, with more than 10 million shoppers a year, $750M in revenue in 2025, and a $235B kids and baby market. Its products include a shop, health and money offerings, NYC and LA showrooms, and branded content.

The Platform team supports every engineering team and keeps the infrastructure reliable, fast, scalable, and secure for 9 million+ users. This is a staff-level SRE role on that team, with particular depth in security engineering alongside reliability, developer experience, and platform work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and evolve the AWS environment with Terraform, keeping EKS clusters, databases, and core services current, fast, and secure.
  • Build and maintain tested tools and services, with runbooks and self-service workflows that other engineers can adopt and run.
  • Create versioned, tested Terraform modules that enforce least-privilege access, secrets handling, and workload isolation, with automated checks for configuration drift.
  • Keep CI/CD fast and dependable by adding dependency and container scanning, secret detection, and short-lived deployment credentials.
  • Be the person engineers go to when environments break, and unblock them quickly across local, staging, and production.
  • Define SLOs and actionable alerting with engineering teams, using incident trends to set reliability priorities.
  • Validate backups, restore procedures, and failover paths through regular recovery tests.
  • Lead or support incident response, run post-incident reviews, and make sure the same failure does not happen twice.
  • Set the long-term infrastructure roadmap and lead cross-team initiatives from design through rollout, adoption, and ongoing operation, mentoring engineers along the way.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering skills, with experience shipping and operating production-quality tools or services that include tests, code review, and maintainable interfaces.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and operating security controls for access, workload identity, secrets, or network isolation in production systems.
  • Deep hands-on Terraform expertise, owning infrastructure as code rather than only contributing to it.
  • Proven AWS experience at scale, including EKS, RDS, cloud networking, DNS, CDNs, and load balancers, and an understanding of their pitfalls.
  • Experience running Kubernetes in production and debugging its hard problems, not just deploying to it.
  • Experience designing and improving CI/CD systems such as CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or similar, with a focus on developer velocity.
  • Strong observability skills with tools such as Datadog, Sentry, PagerDuty, or Cronitor, building alerts that are actionable rather than noisy.
  • Experience with on-call and incident management, including running post-mortems that led to real changes.
  • Ability to support developers across local, staging, and production as a resource rather than a gatekeeper.
  • Daily use of AI to work faster and produce better output, with curiosity about what comes next. Every team at the company uses AI daily.
