Description

The company is a long-established, expert-led business that designs easy-to-use products for cleaning homes, with innovation at its core.

This new role sits in the Quality division and reports to the Quality Engineering Manager.

You will set the test methods, standards and validation approaches that show product quality, reliability and performance.

The role guides testing from a technical standpoint rather than running daily tests, and is the main Quality contact for test methods, standards and claims substantiation.

You will work with Quality, Engineering and operational Test teams worldwide so that testing is suitable, consistent and backed by solid evidence.

Responsibilities

  • Write and keep up to date the product test procedures, methods and validation requirements.
  • Help scope testing early and contribute to Quality Test Plans (QTPs).
  • Go through test results, flag risks and recommend further investigation when needed.
  • Check test reports so that conclusions are sound, clearly written and backed by suitable evidence.
  • Confirm that performance and marketing claims rest on traceable validation evidence.
  • Keep current with relevant standards and methods, such as IEC, ASTM and UL.
  • Take part in standards councils and assess new requirements and what they mean for the business.
  • Align test methods across the operational Test teams in the UK, USA and Asia.
  • Propose new test methods, equipment and capabilities where needed.
  • Keep test documentation in order and help improve validation processes over time.

Requirements

  • Engineering background with a strong analytical mindset and experience in product testing, validation or reliability engineering.
  • Ability to read technical standards and judge how they apply to products and test methods.
  • Solid grasp of test methodology and experimental approaches.
  • Working knowledge of international standards such as IEC, ASTM and UL.
  • Strong analysis skills, including reading test results and technical data.
  • Ability to spot gaps or inconsistencies in technical reports.
  • Understanding of product performance and how to substantiate claims.
  • Structured approach to problem solving and fault finding.
  • Clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams across countries.
  • Good organisation and close attention to detail.
  • Technical curiosity and the confidence to challenge test methods, results and conclusions when evidence is weak, while influencing validation without directly managing operational testing.
