Description

Reliability is a strategic priority for the company, and it shapes customer trust across 3,000-plus services.

The role shifts reliability from reactive fixes toward proactive work, finding and resolving systemic resilience problems across the global platform.

You will work with product teams to build reliability in from the start, so systems hold up during unexpected events for the millions of small businesses that rely on them.

The team is a Site Reliability Engineering group across Australia and the United States. It handles incident management strategy, AI operations tooling and high-availability frameworks, and it embeds with product and infrastructure squads to close shared reliability gaps and apply resilient design patterns.

Team members share incident commander duties across regions and turn operational lessons into lasting stability.

Early work centres on Kubernetes, AWS including ECS and managed services, Golang, Python and C.

Responsibilities

  • Own platform health by building automated tooling, running chaos engineering experiments and spotting likely failures before customers notice them.
  • Run incident management routines and post-incident analysis, and add load-shedding mechanisms that protect availability and raise engineering standards company-wide.
  • Build custom Kubernetes operators that automate storage resizing, alert provisioning and reliability-by-default features for development teams.
  • Extend telemetry pipelines to pull AWS-specific metrics from managed services and send actionable alerts straight to product squads.
  • Run chaos engineering scenarios that test infrastructure failure modes, and build API load shedding and rate limiting to guard services against traffic spikes.

Requirements

  • A solid background in site reliability engineering or DevOps, including diagnosing and strengthening distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience running containerised workloads in Kubernetes and infrastructure on cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Practical coding in Golang, Python or C, and interest in applying modern AI tools to operational problems.
  • A self-starter who spots operational friction and proposes sustainable technical fixes without waiting to be asked.
  • Familiarity with incident management, including on-call response and post-incident reviews that lead to permanent fixes.
  • Clear communication that ties reliability work to customer needs and measurable business results.

Conditions

You can work remotely from anywhere in Australia, or from the office hubs in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, including for team gatherings and boost days, and set your own routine.

Hiring is based on skills and passion, so applicants who do not match every point are still encouraged to apply.
