Description

The team in Sunnyvale, CA, part of the company Marine Systems, is hiring a Staff Engineer for Mission Assurance.

Relocation assistance may be available. A Secret clearance is required but not needed to start. Travel is about 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structured problem solving: find root causes, drive corrective actions, stop recurrence, and verify effectiveness through closure.
  • Turn findings, gap assessments, compliance reviews, and process evaluations into evidence-based material that supports corrective action, verification, and closure.
  • Use that work to shape risk-based and process audits, critical process surveillance, and other compliance control activities.
  • Gather input from functional leaders and the campus ecosystem to see challenges where the work happens, spot trends, analyze them, and build projects and studies that improve culture, reduce compliance risk, and support preventive actions.
  • Plan and run value stream mapping events, Socratic seminars, and other structured sessions that align stakeholders on preventive actions.
  • Own mission assurance and QMS initiatives from scope through closure, turning broad direction into defined work, milestones, deliverables, and executive outputs.
  • Produce core work products such as master project plans, shared files, trackers, dashboards, presentations, and schedules.
  • Turn complex situations into process flows and related maps that clarify issues, controls, dependencies, and paths to resolution.
  • Mentor engineers and teams on audit readiness, compliance discipline, and fact-based problem solving.
  • Use AI-enabled tools and metrics where appropriate to inform scope, planning, and decisions.
  • Manage challenges independently and raise support needs early.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field with 12+ years of relevant experience; 10+ years with a Master's degree; 8+ years with a PhD.
  • Experience working in a QMS-governed environment or another regulated or high-reliability industry.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, including internal audit, document control, nonconformance, corrective and preventive action, management review, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience leading root cause analysis and corrective action through to closure.
  • Experience planning and conducting audits, assessments, or compliance reviews.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and other project management tools for shared files, action tracking, status reporting, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, with strong written, analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to define compliant work, drive execution to closure, and coordinate cross-functional contributors through master plans, shared files, and status tracking.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence across functions and levels.
  • US citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Optional: ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, CQE, CQA, or PMP certification.
  • Optional: Experience in aerospace, defense, or other regulated or high-reliability industries.
  • Optional: Experience with AS9100 and T9000.
  • Optional: Experience supporting site- or program-level quality or mission assurance initiatives.
  • Optional: Experience leading in-person working sessions, reviews, or issue-resolution meetings.
  • Optional: Experience planning and facilitating value stream mapping events.
  • Optional: MPR.
  • Optional: QMACMP.
