Senior Lead Developer-Manager - 2iC to CTO - Equity Opportunity - PINION - The Civic Engagement Platform

The company is an early-stage startup building a civic engagement platform that aims to change how people take part in democracy and politics worldwide.

The MVP is built and ready for a pilot, with the launch planned for 2026. This role carries that work forward.

Users can find and vote on legislation and topics at local, state, national and global levels, share their votes publicly or keep them private, view results, follow how their representatives vote, and compare the candidates running to replace them.

The company is a social purpose corporation. The role reports directly to the CTO. As the product map and user base grow, the team needs a lead who manages people and day-to-day development, protecting and extending the progress made so far.

The ideal person is self-motivated, works well with others, delivers on commitments, and has steady time to communicate with teammates and do development work.

Responsibilities

• Act as second-in-command to the CTO.
• Help design, build and test the internal and customer-facing applications.
• Own the integration of front end, back end, database, API code and features.
• Create and manage development work packages and tasks in Azure DevOps, Jira and similar tools.
• Build redundancy and oversight into the development and analytics teams.
• Help with hiring.
• Lead teams toward deliverables, set realistic deadlines, and flag delivery risks early.
• Take part in governance and review, including workflow staging, QA/QC and documentation.
• Work with the CTO and product team to grow the platform across web and mobile.
• Coordinate onshore and offshore developers across several locations.

Requirements

• Solid hands-on experience with the core stack: Linux, JavaScript and React, Azure DevOps, SQL Server, Entity Framework and Node.js.
• Familiarity with alternative environments.
• Experience with client-side and server-side development, APIs and database tools.
• Experience building and maintaining web applications is required.
• Experience with collaboration tools such as Azure, GitHub and Jira.
• Ability to work well in a team and build a collaborative environment with teammates.
• Formal education or equivalent work experience leading a development team.
• Good to have: Python, Django, Apache, Microsoft development stack and tools.
• Preferred: experience building and maintaining mobile applications.

Conditions

No salary for now. Work is compensated with future equity only, allocated using the Slicing Pie methodology.

The role is intended to become a full-time position with salary, bonus and equity as funding and revenue arrive.

Angel List requires the listing to be classed as a cofounder role, but this is not a legal employment offer for a cofounder position. All team members work under contractor agreements.

Fully remote with flexible hours.

Commit at least 10 hours per week, with more welcome. Life changes are accommodated, but consistent contribution is expected.

Candidates should be self-sufficient, comfortable with a bootstrapped early-stage startup, and interested in the technology and mission.
