Staff Backend Developer - Threat Intelligence

The company is the company's Threat Intelligence team, and it is hiring a Staff Backend Developer. The role is remote anywhere in the UK and reports to the Sr. Director, Threat Intelligence.

The company offers a zero trust security platform used by thousands of customers to connect users, devices and applications from any location. Its SASE-based Zero Trust Exchange runs across more than 200 public data centers and thousands of private edge sites.

You will work with the malware reverse engineering team to build a platform that strengthens the company's core threat detection.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable data pipelines and systems that ingest, process and index large amounts of documents and data.
• Lead the team's push for better development practices, including code review standards, testing, observability and documentation.
• Find and fix performance bottlenecks to keep applications efficient and reliable.
• Build robust, dependable backend APIs and services, covering creation, testing and measurement of backend workflows.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a backend developer or in a similar role.
• Working knowledge of Python, PostgreSQL, Redis and distributed task queue systems.
• Solid grasp of backend databases, data storage and RESTful API design and development.
• Deep skill in relational database design, implementation, SQL query tuning and reporting.
• Foundational understanding of AI and ML technologies, with experience using, securing or applying AI-driven solutions to improve outcomes in your field.
• You are comfortable working in ambiguity and shaping the path as you go.
• You enjoy solving hard problems and get energy from finding solutions with the biggest impact.
• You bring a constructive, can-do attitude that keeps the team focused on solutions.
• You are a pragmatic builder who likes to create, iterate and ship, and who will write the first version yourself when needed while balancing technical quality with delivering value quickly.

• Preferred qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability to use AI technologies and LLM workflows to automate backend data processing and strengthen threat detection systems.
• Prior experience building engineering solutions for malware automation and threat detection.
• Expertise in Django internals, Kubernetes containerization, and full-text search engines such as Elasticsearch, Meilisearch or Typesense.
