Description

The company was founded in 1928 and is based in Atlanta, Georgia. It is a specialty distributor of automotive and industrial replacement parts and value-added services, with more than 10,000 locations worldwide and 60,000 employees.

The Krakow technology center was set up in 2022 as an R&D hub that supports the company's digital transformation. Its work covers advanced technologies that support current operations and growth, including e-commerce and data platforms, supply chain solutions, selling systems, and cyber security.

This role is an SRE engineer position focused on observability and monitoring. You will keep a growing eCommerce platform reliable across security, CDN, DNS, servers, databases, caching, and monitoring, with observability as your main area.

The company values hands-on experience building monitoring from scratch. New Relic is the company's own stack and is a strong plus, but experience with Datadog, Grafana/Prometheus, or ELK also counts if it transfers.

Responsibilities

  • Build monitoring and observability for the platform, including instrumentation, dashboards, and alerts that flag problems before users notice them.
  • Define and set SLIs and SLOs, dashboards, and thresholds where none exist yet.
  • Work with dev teams to instrument their services and treat observability as a product you keep improving.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in SRE, platform, or observability engineering, including building monitoring from scratch rather than only maintaining existing dashboards.
  • Strong working knowledge of logs, metrics, and traces, and judgment on which one to use for a given problem.
  • Hands-on experience with modern observability platforms such as New Relic (a strong plus), Datadog, Grafana/Prometheus, or Elasticsearch / OpenSearch (ELK).
  • Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry or vendor agents, enough to instrument services and follow a request across service boundaries.
  • Ability to design alerts that are symptom-based, actionable, tied to user impact, and tuned to limit noise and alert fatigue.
  • Experience managing monitors, dashboards, and alerts as code with Terraform or a similar tool.
  • Working knowledge of GitHub Actions, Docker, and Azure, enough to instrument, deploy, and integrate observability on your own.
  • Scripting in Python and/or Bash.
  • Good written and spoken English to work with the SRE lead and dev teams.
  • Nice to have: Azure ACA; OpenTelemetry Collector pipelines; observability cost control covering data volume, retention, and sampling; incident response and post-incident review experience; e-commerce or high-traffic environments.

Conditions

The company does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, religion, citizenship status, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic, and hires and promotes on ability and experience.
