Description

The company needs a Field Applications Engineer focused on analog and power to work in the UK, ideally within reach of the Bourne End or Swindon offices, supporting customers in the UK and Ireland.

You act as technical lead for analog and power solutions on system-level design work with key customers, from pre-design through post-design, covering new technology introduction, component selection, technical resource guidance, schematic and layout reviews, and issue resolution that moves designs from design-in to design-win.

The role sits in the sales team, so you work closely with peers on business targets.

Responsibilities

  • Shape customer analog and power architecture, including power tree design, device selection and system optimisation.
  • Run technical design reviews, root-cause analysis and hands-on debug of analog and power issues.
  • Evaluate new products and build competitive positioning for the analog and power portfolio, which covers PMICs, DC/DC, GaN and MOSFETs, LDOs, battery management, signal chain, transceivers, op amps, optocouplers and NOR flash.
  • Make sure analog, power, processor and connectivity subsystems fit together in system-level designs.
  • Give customers direct technical guidance to take designs from concept to production revenue.
  • Pass field feedback to product divisions to inform roadmap, feature priorities and gaps in system solutions.
  • Develop and present customer training, technical seminars and internal enablement content.

Requirements

  • A degree in electrical or electronic engineering is required. A master's in electrical engineering (MSEE) is preferred.
  • Strong experience in analog and power electronics, in a customer-facing or design role.
  • Expertise in power conversion and management, including buck and boost converters, PMICs, LDOs, power tree sequencing and battery-powered system design.
  • Solid understanding of analog signal chains, including amplifiers, data converters, sensors, filtering, noise, stability and signal integrity.
  • Proven experience with system-level power architecture, schematic and PCB layout review (especially power integrity and thermal), and bench characterisation, validation and debug of power systems.
  • Ability to handle how power interacts with MCUs and MPUs, DDR, high-speed interfaces and connectivity subsystems.
  • Hands-on lab skill with oscilloscopes, power analysers, thermal analysis and transient response measurements.
  • Strong communication skills to turn detailed technical content into customer-facing solutions and value propositions.
  • Self-driven and collaborative, able to own complex technical engagements.
  • Strong willingness to work on customer sites, including regular multi-day trips.

Conditions

Based in the UK, ideally near the Bourne End or Swindon office, with customer support across the UK and Ireland.

Regular multi-day travel to customer premises is required.

Benefits

  • A competitive benefits package alongside salary, with details provided during the hiring process.
