Staff Site Reliability Engineer

Description

This senior role keeps the company's large-scale software systems reliable, available and fast by combining software engineering with systems administration. Your core work covers automating operations, strengthening observability and helping run incident response.

The company builds a cloud-based platform that connects every stakeholder and stage of electronics development, from PCB designers to supply chain and manufacturing teams. Its headquarters are in San Diego, California, and it is part of a larger electronics group.

Responsibilities

• Build a working understanding of how the company's cloud platforms run.
• Lead improvements to logging, monitoring and application performance management (APM) so that problems are caught early.
• Design and roll out reliability frameworks and patterns that make the SaaS products more resilient across regions and environments.
• Work with engineering teams to teach reliability practices, sharing ownership of uptime with them.
• Take part in incident response: restore service quickly, keep stakeholders informed and run post-incident reviews that lead to fixes.
• Join system design consulting, platform management, infrastructure upgrades and capacity planning.
• Partner with engineering and development teams to improve stability, observability and manageability.
• Work with DevOps and operations to automate processes, adopt Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and simplify deployments for efficiency and scale.
• Promote Service-Oriented Organization (SOO) principles so each service has clear ownership and accountability.
• Join the on-call rotation and push operational improvements after incidents.

Requirements

• 6+ years in SRE, DevOps or a similar role at large scale.
• 3+ years of professional software development.
• Software development experience, ideally as a.NET developer.
• Solid grasp of the SDLC and of microservice and high-availability (HA) architecture.
• Hands-on work with observability tools such as NewRelic, ELK, Grafana, PagerDuty or OTEL.
• Production experience with Kubernetes clusters, AWS and IOC.
• Experience with operational tasks.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Gitlab, GitHub or ArgoCD.
• Knowledge of IaaC tools Terraform and Ansible.
• Basic understanding of networking fundamentals.
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or Postgres is a plus.
• You must be a US permanent resident, either a citizen or a Green Card holder.
