The directorate builds the policy, processes, procedures, training, tools, digital strategies, and shared methods that support this work.

The aim is to align engineering disciplines across the full lifecycle of an air system, supporting programs and raising technical standards within each discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain processes, tools, training, and strategic roadmaps for assessing how the organization executes adjacent certification work.

  • Work with colleagues across the company and with partners in the wider industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) with at least 14 years of experience, a master's degree in STEM with 12 years, or a PhD with 10 years.
  • Experience writing plans and certification bases that show compliance with DoW policy, MIL-HDBK-516, and civil and international standards, and turning that into solutions that meet program goals for airworthiness and cybersecurity approval.
  • Experience reviewing and coordinating airworthiness and/or cybersecurity engineers, and working with internal engineering disciplines across the design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of air systems.
  • Experience certifying aircraft systems for nuclear surety, weapons certification, and/or CNS/ATM certification.
  • Proven record of working across functions with subject matter experts, engineers, analysts, and senior leaders.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government in-scope DoD Secret security clearance or higher.
  • Preferred: Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to give clear guidance and run workshops for engineers.
  • Preferred: Ability to lead modernization by setting vision, focus, guiding principles, essential capabilities, and goals that move the team toward a digital-centric organization.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-516C or D.
  • Preferred: Experience developing or modifying civil or military aircraft.
  • Preferred: Extensive technical expertise and strong knowledge of related disciplines, with the ability to solve complex problems through ingenuity and creativity, working with little direction.
  • Preferred: Experience with domestic or international standards development organizations.
  • Preferred: Experience with discipline-based maturity models.
  • Preferred: Experience with digital engineering approaches such as MBSE tools.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with the DoW acquisition process.
