Description

The company is building VirGeo, a cloud-hosted geodata customer engagement platform. It lets stakeholders work with complex geodata, track project progress and make decisions close to real time on survey operations.

You will sit in a multidisciplinary team with Product, Design and DevOps/Engineering, so the people deciding what gets built, how it looks and feels, and how it runs in production work together.

The team builds alongside AI coding agents every day and has already set up the instructions, skills and integrations that make them effective in the codebase. Keeping that practice moving forward is a big part of this role. As a Senior Full-stack Developer you will code across the whole stack and help champion an AI-first mindset, developing it with colleagues rather than for them.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build full-stack web applications and platform services in React, TypeScript, Node.js and Python, using AI agents as a normal part of your toolkit.
  • Build interactive map tools with live data, layer control and spatial editing, combining open-source, proprietary and partner GIS components.
  • Build and evolve cloud-native services that scale: multi-tenant, resilient, cost-conscious, and able to handle large geodata volumes and many concurrent users without slowdowns.
  • Shape architecture decisions, work with Product and Design from discovery onward, collaborate with DevOps on how your work runs in production, and mentor other developers.
  • Keep review capacity ahead of delivery speed. You own everything that gets merged and help improve the review habits, tests and guardrails that keep fast delivery safe.
  • Lead the team's AI-assisted delivery: split work into tasks sized for agents, refine the context and instructions agents rely on, and keep human judgement on architecture, trade-offs, security and code quality.
  • Build the shared tooling for agent work: agent instructions, reusable skills and prompts, MCP integrations with internal systems, and automated checks that measure what actually works.
  • Promote the AI mindset daily by pairing with colleagues, sharing what you learn, questioning outdated habits and helping the whole team improve.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of full-stack development experience, ideally in enterprise or data-intensive settings.
  • Strong front-end skills in JavaScript/TypeScript and React or similar, plus back-end experience with Python, Java or Node.js, including API design, data modelling and service decomposition. You can reason about a whole system, not just the feature in front of you.
  • Solid experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and hands-on knowledge of keeping a service healthy in production.
  • Production experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor or GitHub Copilot, with a clear method: context design, task breakdown and checking agent output. You can explain concretely where agents speed you up and where they lead you astray.
  • A record of raising the bar for others: sharing practice, teaching through pairing, and welcoming challenge from peers who are strong in this area too.
  • Ideally, experience with mapping libraries, spatial data and modern identity and access management. Or a willingness to go deep into marine, offshore and remote sensing data if you are new to it.
  • Serious commitment to testing and a healthy scepticism. Quality matters more when code is produced quickly.
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD and agile working.
  • Excellent communication and the ability to work with Product, Design and DevOps as equals, not by handing work over.
  • Ability to communicate well in English.

Conditions

Salary is between €6100 and €7700 per month, based on relevant experience, within a salary range that allows growth in the role.

Working from home is possible in line with your manager and company policy.

Home working allowance of EUR 2.35 net per day, where applicable.

Commuting allowance: mileage for car travel (10-30 km one way), plus EUR 0.10 per km for those who walk or cycle.

The company is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes a diverse workforce.
