Description

The role sits within the US product marketing team and covers how existing product lines perform and how new launches go.

The goal is to get surgeons and hospitals adopting and using advanced energy, stapling and smart instrumentation in robotic procedures across surgical specialties.

You would work with US clinical marketing, global product marketing, US and global hospital marketing, and field sales.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with key customers to speed up adoption and use of all core product lines across specialties.
  • Gather voice-of-customer feedback and pass challenges and opportunities on current and new products to clinical marketing, global product marketing and sales leadership.
  • Find what key opinion leaders and field sales do well, and spread those practices to reduce regional differences in adoption and use.
  • Identify and develop product champions for existing and newly launched products in each specialty.
  • Produce clinical and economic reference stories that show effective product workflows and practices across specialties and health systems.
  • Work with key opinion leaders, global product marketing and US clinical marketing on value propositions and messaging for launches.
  • Set up and track adoption metrics with US sales operations, and use the data to shape marketing and sales plans.
  • Build and deliver training for field sales with commercial learning to speed adoption and use.
  • With clinical marketing and field sales, plan US conferences, tradeshows, executive education, market development and key customer (VIP) events, including product demonstrations (test-drives) and technology talks, and make sure key messages appear in company-sponsored presentations and customer conversations.
  • Stay visible at the front line of the customer experience, help sales with urgent troubleshooting, and escalate product performance issues.
  • Keep procedural knowledge current and maintain surgeon relationships by attending cases, demonstrating products to hospital executives and surgeons, and working with clinical marketing, field sales and key account managers.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication, with experience presenting to surgeons and hospital executives.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a therapeutic or medical device company.
  • Experience in surgical or operating room sales or marketing.
  • Experience working with sales, marketing, operations and customer service teams.
  • Proven skill in segmenting, targeting and positioning a product or procedure, and building sales support to drive adoption.
  • Able to work creatively, set priorities and deliver goals when priorities compete.
  • Strong analytical ability and sound intuition.
  • Self-starter who solves problems and builds solutions in a high-growth, fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills with many kinds of stakeholders.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Preferred: more than 2 years of surgical marketing experience in advanced energy or stapling.
  • Preferred: surgical sales experience, though it is not required.
  • Preferred: an MBA or other advanced degree.

Some roles may be subject to US export controls for prospective employees who are nationals of countries under embargo or sanctions. Application information may be used to decide whether an export license (which can take 3 to 6+ months) or a Technology Control Plan (TCP, typically adding 2 weeks) is needed. Final offers for such roles depend on an approved license and/or executed TCP before the start date, which may or may not be flexible and must not unreasonably delay hiring. Candidates will be told of any requirements.
