Senior Full Stack Engineer

Description

The Ion endoluminal system is a robotic platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the peripheral lung, aimed at earlier diagnosis of lung cancer.

The company is hiring a senior software engineer to build backend services, APIs and customer-facing web apps that support its robotic fleet and the application workflows around it.

You will build software that scales, is easy to test and maintain, and integrates cleanly with internal and external systems.

This role can be remote.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services and APIs for the robotic fleet and its application workflows.
• Write unit, integration and end-to-end tests that run in CI pipelines.
• Help improve CI/CD, observability and operations so the team can ship small, frequent releases with high confidence.
• Make sure every service and API has clear documentation, health endpoints and uptime monitoring.
• Work with embedded, infrastructure and data teams to deliver useful, data-driven solutions.
• Work with design and product teams to shape scope and build strong user experiences.
• Work with security and quality teams so solutions meet compliance and operational requirements.

Requirements

• Strong experience building backend services and APIs in TypeScript, JavaScript, Go, Python, Java or similar languages.
• Strong front-end experience with modern frameworks such as React.js, Vue.js, Svelte or similar.
• Experience designing GraphQL, REST or gRPC APIs with clear contracts, documentation, versioning and backward compatibility.
• Experience with relational databases such as Postgres, including service-side data modeling and transactional design.
• Experience with automated testing, GitLab CI/CD and AWS-based deployment of backend services.
• Experience with containers and orchestration, such as Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS or Amazon EKS.
• Solid grasp of distributed systems concerns such as reliability, failure handling, observability and operational support.
• Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field.
• At least 6 years of software engineering experience, including backend services or API development.
• Preferred: experience with medical devices or other regulated industries.
• Preferred: experience defining and implementing data privacy requirements.
• Preferred: experience with third-party API and data integrations, particularly with EMR systems.
• Preferred: experience in mobile application development.

The level may differ from the one listed, depending on business need and the selected candidate's experience, knowledge and skills. Pay is based mainly on the level the role is filled at and the candidate's qualifications, within the law.
