Sr. Manager, AI Product Engineer

Description

You will be a senior, hands-on engineer in an AI development pod within the company's AI product and innovation studio.

The pod builds and ships the studio's current platforms and new ones not yet defined, supporting the company's AI direction.

You will work globally with AI product owners and the pod's director of AI product engineering.

You own technical quality and delivery for major product areas in the pod and help decide what is ready for colleagues to use.

The standard is working software, realistic estimates, and no prototype left without an owner.

Responsibilities

• Build core product features, including AI-native flows that use models, tools, retrieval and evaluation, and hold up under daily use by colleagues.
• Lead technically on a product area by splitting up work and reviewing code, while keeping quality high without slowing others down.
• Work with product owners to shape scope that speeds up learning and can be operated, and raise technical risk early.
• Raise engineering standards through pairing, feedback and examples, with a focus on Manager, AI Product Engineers.
• Work with DevOps on CI/CD, environments and production readiness for the work you own.
• Help build shared studio patterns so the two development pods stay aligned.
• Add instrumentation and use data and failure traces to improve the product, not only to debug it.
• Present clearly in demos and design reviews, and write short design notes that others can act on.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering, including shipping and iterating production systems.
• Hands-on experience adding AI/ML or generative AI to product features.
• Able to lead technically without formal authority, through sequencing work, reviewing code and coaching.
• Solid grounding in APIs, data, testing and debugging distributed web systems.
• Works well with product and design teams in iterative, ambiguous settings.
• Communicates clearly in writing and speech.
• Preferred: advanced degree.
• Preferred: experience as a tech lead on a squad or pod.
• Preferred: familiarity with modern AI platforms and at least one major cloud.
• Preferred: healthcare, pharma or other regulated-industry experience.
• Preferred: mentoring or informal people-development experience.
• Preferred: consulting or senior product-engineering experience, seen as a plus.
