Software Project Manager for Railway Systems (w/m/d)

Description

The route control product development team in Vienna, Austria, builds middleware for train control and traffic management systems, including European Train Control System (ETCS) and electronic interlockings.

The team's middleware sits between operating system services and railway-specific business logic. It covers run-time execution, redundancy management, communication protocol stacks, boot and download procedures, and diagnosis.

The role is a full-time position based in Vienna and is not remote.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical project management and coordination of the development of next-generation interlocking control systems.
• Lead the development and integration of middleware components for new versions of the interlocking system product line.
• Track project milestones, scope and budget.
• Work on safety-critical systems.
• Identify issues and risks, write mitigation plans, and escalate to the right stakeholders when needed.
• Report status and critical issues briefly and concisely.
• Work in an international team and with other business line units.

Requirements

• A technical degree, preferably a Master's in Computer Science or a similar field.
• At least 5 years of technical project management, focused on software or software/hardware engineering projects.
• Knowledge of project management tools.
• Very good German and good English.
• Knowledge of safety-critical systems or railway experience is an advantage.
• A positive attitude and persistence.
• A competitive mindset and a strong drive to succeed.
