You will join the software engineering job family on a regular, full-time requisition, working with Operations and Maintenance teams on high-performance computing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and run complex configuration changes and software updates across production systems.
  • Make sure every stage of delivery meets required standards for security, compliance, and performance, so deployments stay fast, reliable, and secure.
  • Act as the lead for Tier 3 escalations and work closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to diagnose and fix infrastructure problems.
  • Carry out deep root cause analysis on incidents.
  • Build automated remediation approaches that improve stability, stop problems from coming back, and make operations more efficient over the long term.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with Ansible Tower, Docker, and Linux.
  • Technical training, a certification, or a degree.
  • 8+ years of related experience.
  • Working experience with the Linux command line and common Linux tools.
  • Experience applying infrastructure as code and automating with Ansible.
  • Experience writing Python to build custom Ansible modules.
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker, containerd, and Podman.
  • Experience building Helm charts to deploy containerized services on Kubernetes.
  • Experience with DevOps and GitOps practices, including creating release candidates and maintaining and troubleshooting pipelines.
  • Working knowledge of Git, including branching strategies and tagging.
  • Experience writing thorough technical documentation, such as installation guides, troubleshooting runbooks, and architecture diagrams, for new products and changes.
  • Desired: experience with the Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Desired: familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methods.
  • Desired: familiarity with datacenter infrastructure management tools such as Netbox.

Conditions

Onsite work in Annapolis Junction, MD, USA, with no additional work locations listed.

Scheduled at 40 hours per week, with no required travel.

US citizenship is required.

An active Top Secret SCI clearance with a polygraph is required at the time of application; no public trust or other clearance is required.

The likely salary range is $176,800 to $239,200. This is not a guarantee, and pay depends on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements, so it could fall outside this range.

The hiring process includes an identity verification step using biometrics and AI, and you must be on camera for virtual interviews.

Equal opportunity employer; applicants are considered regardless of disability or protected veteran status.

Benefits

  • Medical plan options, some with Health Savings Accounts, plus dental and vision plans.

  • Full flex work weeks where possible.
  • Paid time off including vacation, sick and personal time, holidays, paid parental, military, bereavement, and jury duty leave.
  • Short-term and long-term disability, life, accidental death and dismemberment, personal accident, critical illness, and business travel accident insurance, provided or available.
