Principal Platform Engineer

The Platform Engineering group builds the cloud platform, data infrastructure, observability systems, automation, and reliability services behind products used daily by clinicians, educators, employers, and care teams. This role is a principal-level position that defines and advances the cloud platform capabilities behind secure, reliable, and scalable product delivery. You will work with Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, and architecture forums to modernize legacy systems, strengthen reliability, improve developer experience, and shape future platform investment. You will bring hands-on depth in AWS, Kubernetes, GitOps, ArgoCD, observability, automation, and delivery tooling, and mentor engineers while raising standards for how services are built, deployed, and run.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for secure, resilient, scalable cloud platform services that make developers more productive and improve customer outcomes.
• Lead the modernization of legacy infrastructure and guide application developers from legacy designs to service-based deployments, working through collaboration and coordination.
• Build platform reliability practices covering SLOs, observability, operational readiness, incident response, and ongoing KPI improvement.
• Raise delivery standards through safer deployments, stronger security controls, solid data protection, and disciplined asset management.
• Improve developer experience with tooling, faster feedback loops, and self-service capabilities that noticeably boost engineering output.
• Mentor engineers and shape architecture, standards, and delivery across teams through principal-level technical leadership.

Requirements

• 10+ years building and running mission-critical platforms in DevOps, infrastructure, cloud, or software engineering.
• Principal-level judgment on architecture across scalability, reliability, security, observability, and operational excellence.
• Advanced AWS expertise across compute, networking, storage, identity, containers, serverless, messaging, data, and observability services.
• Deep hands-on skill with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, Kubernetes, GitOps practices, ArgoCD and related tooling, deployment automation, source control, and production scripting.
• Comfort contributing to cross-functional architecture forums, with strong technical views and the ability to influence collaboratively when shaping future platform investment.
• A proven record of mentoring senior engineers, setting lasting standards, and building a high-accountability platform engineering culture.

Conditions

Remote position.

Base salary range is $200,000 to $215,000 USD.

The company works in a hybrid model with offices in Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Holmdel, NJ; and Verona, Italy.
