Software Engineering Intern - HP IQ

Description

The team builds user-facing software for Windows client devices and new hardware-software platforms.

The team's work sits where software, hardware and AI meet, including early health-focused initiatives.

As an intern, you would help shape next-generation projects alongside people from other disciplines, taking ideas from first concepts and prototypes through to working solutions.

Responsibilities

• Help build core components of the team's frameworks so that interfaces feel responsive, clear and pleasant to use.
• Work with designers and engineers to prototype, refine and launch new interactions and product experiences.
• Take on hard technical problems, weigh tradeoffs and limits, and explain problems, needs and possible fixes to the team.
• Connect distinctive sensors and hardware capabilities to application-level frameworks to create new interaction models.

Requirements

• You are working toward a degree in computer science or a closely related technical field.
• You write code well in at least one language, such as Java or C++.
• Preferred: You communicate and collaborate well with people across functions.
• Preferred: You enjoy learning quickly and adjusting when technologies, requirements or problems shift.
• Preferred: You care about building thoughtful, high-quality user-facing products that are intuitive, engaging and meaningful.
• Preferred: You have built mobile apps or worked with mobile platform frameworks, and you understand user experience issues on mobile.

Conditions

The hourly pay range is $40-$50 per hour. Actual pay depends on factors such as skills, qualifications and experience.

The 2027 internship runs from May/June to August/September 2027, with final dates set around your school schedule.

The role is full time, with no shift premium in the United States.
