Description

The company is a global multi-manager hedge fund that aims for strong risk-adjusted returns for its investors. It works with internal and external portfolio manager teams worldwide, looking for mispricings and opportunities across markets. It draws on decades of experience and heavy investment in proprietary technology, infrastructure and risk analytics, and runs four main strategies: Quant, Tactical, Fundamental Equity, and Discretionary Macro & Fixed Income.

The team is hiring a Senior UI Engineer to help build and shape the firm's internal UI platform, which serves more than 100 business applications. The role combines hands-on engineering with platform thinking, and you will also bring a UX and product perspective to the work.

You will be a core contributor to the platform and a technical partner to the product owners who build on it. Product requirements change often and business stakeholders stay closely involved in the work.

The company values learning and invests in its people. It encourages teamwork, shares ideas at every level, offers learning programs, and supports internal networks, outside partnerships and service initiatives that promote inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Help evolve the platform's technical stack and developer tools through architecture improvements, shared components and consistent implementation across cross-functional teams.
  • Work with product teams and business stakeholders to shape feature definitions and build high-impact UI directly into their applications.
  • Work across the full stack: web front-end, backend integration, API design, performance tuning and system observability.
  • Mentor junior engineers, uphold code quality and best practices, find gaps in development lifecycles, and improve the platform and how developers use it.

Requirements

  • Have at least 5 years of professional UI engineering experience, including at least 2 years leading or designing front-end architectures.
  • Have advanced React and TypeScript skills, with a record of designing large, performant component systems, setting front-end standards and coaching teams on modern React patterns such as hooks, composition and performance optimization.
  • Have worked directly with users and stakeholders on application design, turning business requirements into user stories and journeys, and building polished screens that drive engagement and adoption.
  • Have partnered closely with product management to turn vision and requirements into shipped UI, from concept and requirements through design iteration and delivery.
  • Be fluent in using AI across the development lifecycle, including tools such as Codex, Claude and Copilot, to break down and solve engineering problems, build and run agents and skills that scale delivery, and refine SDLC practices around agentic workflows.
  • Be strongly familiar with enterprise JavaScript frameworks such as Redux, Zustand and RxJS.
  • Have hands-on experience with advanced data grid and charting tools connected to real-time or high-volume datasets.
  • Be proficient in writing unit and end-to-end tests using frameworks such as RTL, Mocha, Jest, Cypress and Playwright.
  • Have led the technical lifecycle of complex UI applications, from architecture and technology choices through implementation, deployment, scalability and production reliability.
  • Have identified chances to bring AI capabilities into user features or development workflows.
  • We'd love if you had: experience building internal tools for trading, analytics or compliance at finance or fintech firms.
  • We'd love if you had: experience with AWS cloud services (EC2), Kubernetes-based deployments and modern CI/CD pipelines.
  • We'd love if you had: experience designing and running high-throughput, event-driven data pipelines on Apache Kafka or Apache Spark.
  • We'd love if you had: experience implementing or maintaining design systems.
  • We'd love if you had: familiarity with React-based micro-frontend architectures and patterns for modular UI.
  • We'd love if you had: proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Go, Python, Java or Rust.
  • We'd love if you had: a firm voice for engineering excellence, pushing for best practices, questioning outdated patterns and raising standards through clear critique in team discussions.
  • We'd love if you had: strong communication skills, with the ability to work with business stakeholders to turn high-level ideas into technical plans, UX wireframes or prototypes.
