Description

The team is rebuilding and greatly expanding the software simulator for DICENTIS conference devices. The simulator behaves like real hardware on the network, so development and test teams can check server behavior, run automated regression tests, and write software without needing physical devices all the time.

The existing simulator covers only a small set of device behaviors and is built on an old technology stack. The rebuild moves it to a newer foundation the company is already investing in, and raises coverage from roughly 30% to 80, 90% of real device behavior.

This is a long-term project that will shape how engineering teams develop, test, and maintain products. The final result must run on Windows and Linux and become a core part of the automated testing and development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the current simulator, the DICENTIS devices, and the newer stack used for the rebuild.
  • Study how real devices behave and map which scenarios are already simulated and which are missing.
  • Decide which device behaviors matter most and set their priority for coverage.
  • Design and build new simulated device scenarios in C and/or C++.
  • Write network-facing code that acts like the matching physical devices.
  • Make the simulator run on both Windows and Linux.
  • Build and maintain automated tests that use the simulator in place of hardware.
  • Add the simulator to the automated build and test pipeline, including continuous integration where it fits.
  • Document the supported behaviors, architecture, usage, and known limitations.
  • Work with engineers and testers to make sure the simulator suits daily development and testing.
  • Split the long project into workable milestones and report progress to your supervising team regularly.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Strong programming skills in C and/or C++.
  • Good grasp of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
  • Basic knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP, client-server communication, and networked devices.
  • Able to work on your own, take ownership of tasks, and split a large project into steps.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Eager to learn, dig into technical problems, and build a solution on top of an existing base.
  • Nice to have: experience with.NET or.NET Core.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with network protocols or device communication standards.
  • Nice to have: experience with automated testing or continuous integration tools such as Jenkins.
  • Nice to have: experience in a Linux-based development environment.
  • Nice to have: coursework or projects in software engineering, networking, embedded systems, or distributed systems.
  • Nice to have: interest in audio, conferencing technology, embedded systems, or connected devices.
