The Team:

The Knowledge Graph Platform team builds the foundational systems that help the company understand entities, relationships, and context across its content. We are evolving an advanced, AI-powered knowledge graph into a reliable, scalable platform that enables teams across the company to build better experiences on top of shared, high-quality knowledge.

This is a high-leverage team at the intersection of data, platform engineering, and AI. Our work supports emerging capabilities such as contextual grounding while creating the contracts, standards, and developer experience that make shared data dependable and easy to use. This team is strategically positioned to impact both ads and consumer roadmaps. Our data is used across ads marketplace models as well as user-facing features on the company's site .

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers building the company’s Knowledge Graph Platform; create a high-trust, high-performing environment with clear goals and strong technical ownership.
  • Set the technical direction and roadmap for a scalable knowledge graph platform, including data and API contracts, service interfaces, reliability, observability, performance, and developer experience.
  • Establish production-grade operating standards: defining SLOs, implementing quality measures of data within the knowledge graph, governance mechanisms, and safe change-management practices.
  • Partner with engineering, computational linguists, and domain-expert teams to define a shared operating model for ontology, data quality, governance, and platform evolution.
  • Be a steward of data in the KG - ensure the graph has the coverage and freshness needed for priority use cases. Work with our dedicated data labeler team on shared goals around data coverage and quality.
  • Work closely with internal product and engineering teams to understand their needs, prioritize high-value use cases, and increase access to the platform.
  • Drive the next wave of graph-powered capabilities, including opportunities in shopping, search, ads marketplace models, consumer feed models.
  • Stay close to architecture and technical design, helping the team navigate complex system tradeoffs and contribute hands-on when it is the highest-leverage path.
  • Communicate the team’s strategy, priorities, risks, and progress clearly across a distributed, cross-functional organization.
  • Who You Might Be:
  • 8+ years of total software engineering experience, with 2+ years directly managing, coaching, and developing engineering teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience building or operating AI/ML powered, or data-intensive platforms, with a proven track record of leading shared technical systems with multiple internal customers.
  • Strong understanding of how to turn a technical system into a product-like platform: setting an operating model with customers, establishing data or service-level contracts, useful documentation, and a path to self-service adoption.
  • Experience establishing data contracts around quality, lineage, or governance.
  • Strong technical judgment across distributed systems, backend services, data platforms, APIs, reliability, and operational excellence.
  • Comfortable making technical and product tradeoffs in ambiguity, including when a dedicated product manager is not present.
  • Excellent collaborator and communicator who can earn trust with engineers, senior leaders, and partner teams across time zones.
  • Enjoy building clarity and durable operating mechanisms where ownership and processes are still evolving. Excel in evangelization and driving platform adoption cross org.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Experience with knowledge graphs, semantic or ontology systems, entity resolution, search, or contextual grounding is highly desired.
