Description

The company has worked in computer graphics, PC gaming and accelerated computing for over 25 years, and now applies AI to GPUs that serve as the processing core of computers, robots and self-driving cars.

The team builds software tools that help technical users make sense of complex computing systems. This technical lead role centres on creating a new platform that lets engineers assess how AI workloads perform across many compute nodes. The platform gathers performance data at data center scale, keeps it as searchable history, and lets people and analysis agents that run automatically locate and explain performance problems. You will take it from an early prototype to a product other teams rely on, while writing code alongside the team as it grows.

Responsibilities

  • Design the full architecture, including the data model, the service and API contracts, and where the platform meets the tools and teams that generate the data.
  • Document key technical decisions, listing the options you rejected and the evidence that would change your mind, and agree them with partner teams and their roadmaps.
  • Early on, build services, APIs and a deployment pipeline yourself so partners can start building against the system before the rest of the team is hired.
  • Specify how automated analysis agents work within the platform: which queries they may run, how their results link to evidence, and limits on their cost and response time.
  • Review performance diagnoses, lead the first use cases with design partners, mentor engineers, and set the engineering practices the team adopts as it expands.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership of a data-heavy platform delivered end to end and used by other teams.
  • Experience building or running systems where automated agents or models process large volumes of production data, including how the quality of their results was measured.
  • Working knowledge of GPU and machine learning workload performance: you can review a diagnosis, challenge its evidence, and identify which signals matter most.
  • A record of designing APIs and data models that changed over time without breaking existing users or deployments.
  • Able to build and deploy services and tooling yourself, including with automated development tools, and to verify the results independently through tests and measurements.
  • Able to communicate build choices, trade-offs and uncertainty clearly to engineers, partner teams and leadership, and to align teams without formal authority.
  • Proficiency in C++, Go and Python.
  • Ways to stand out: experience with developer tools, profilers or performance analysis products.
  • Ways to stand out: experience turning a prototype into a platform adopted by several teams with different priorities.
  • Ways to stand out: identity, access control and multi-tenant design for products that hold customer data.
  • Ways to stand out: an evaluation approach for analysis agent or model output, such as labeled cases, precision and recall, and abstention.
  • Ways to stand out: working knowledge of SQL and TypeScript.

Conditions
