Description

The company helps ambitious businesses grow globally. Its offering is a proprietary platform that combines business accounts, hedging and financing in one place with a smooth workflow, so clients can manage global cash flow and scale.

Founded in 2009, the company is a fast-growing fintech leader with more than 2000 people across nearly 70 cities.

This Senior Data Engineer role sits in the Data Platform team in Madrid, Spain. The team builds, maintains and keeps improving a central platform with scalable, robust core frameworks that serve data teams and business units company-wide.

Even if your experience covers less than 100% of the criteria listed, you are still encouraged to apply, as you may suit this or future roles.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain a high-performance central data platform used across the company, from end to end.
  • Research emerging technologies and open-source frameworks, and bring the useful ones in to widen what the data work can do.
  • Work with data scientists, analytics engineers and BI leads to understand what the platform must do and deliver solutions they can act on.
  • Set and enforce data governance, quality standards and access policies so the platform stays secure and reliable.

Requirements

  • Proven experience building and running production data platforms, data lakes and cloud data warehouses at scale.
  • Advanced Python for data transformation, validation and tooling.
  • Advanced SQL, including optimising queries over large datasets.
  • Deep knowledge of traditional modeling for structured and unstructured data.
  • Hands-on work with GCP or an equivalent cloud ecosystem, including BigQuery, serverless compute and containers.
  • Self-motivated and curious, with a habit of keeping up with the latest in data architecture and open-source practice.
  • Professional English.
  • Plus: graph database modeling.
  • Plus: Spanish.

Conditions

Based in Madrid, Spain, on a hybrid model: 4 days in the office and 1 day remote.

Equal opportunity: the company opposes discrimination in all its forms.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay: an attractive base salary plus a performance-based discretionary bonus.
  • A dedicated budget and paid time for ongoing training, certifications and personal development.
  • An open-source culture: the company follows open-source principles internally and encourages contributions to external projects.
  • A good office atmosphere in Madrid, with the option to work from home.
