Description

The company is hiring a software engineer for a multidisciplinary cyber and networking team that builds communications technology across every networking layer, from physical to application. The work supports national security.

The role suits someone with software engineering, integration and testing experience and a good grasp of networking concepts and protocols, who enjoys results-driven development on Linux. You will work in a team that prototypes quickly and ships useful solutions, and you should be curious and self-motivated.

You will design, build and test software for real-time data communications and networking, using open systems principles. The team holds high standards for quality, maintainability and reuse, so solid software engineering practice and testing methods are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a small research team on hard problems with no fixed answer
  • Carry out assigned tasks and report overall status to project leadership
  • Build and test new software across research, development and production systems
  • Find inventive ways to approach open-ended problems
  • Ship high-quality software on a fast-moving team
  • Build working prototypes to test ideas and measure performance
  • Build customer-facing operational systems

Requirements

  • You must be able to obtain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance, and the U.S. Government requires U.S. citizenship for it
  • Proficiency in Python, C, C++, or similar interpreted or low-level languages
  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping methods and open architectures
  • Working knowledge of software testing and evaluation best practices
  • Experience developing with GNU/Linux toolchains and open-source software
  • Understanding of the 5-layer OSI networking stack
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, plus at least 2 years of relevant experience
  • An active Top Secret (TS) security clearance
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and other high-level languages
  • Experience building, deploying and maintaining robust, stable software
  • Experience writing code in a large codebase shared by several parties
  • Experience in a lab setting doing quantitative data analysis
  • Familiarity with multi-threaded or multi-core real-time operating system concepts
  • Knowledge of high-level software architecture design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Conditions

Full-time, with a salary range of $112,000 to $154,000

The range is based on external market data. Final offers depend on factors such as experience, education, training, key and critical skills, security clearances, and market and business conditions.

The company is a growing technology firm with offices near Boston, MA; Arlington, VA; Dayton, OH; Melbourne, FL; Carlsbad, CA; Atlanta, GA; and Denver, CO. It does advanced research and development for defense, intelligence and national security, covering cyber, next-generation sensors, radar, sonar, communications, electronic warfare, and AI algorithms and analytics.

Positions require national security clearances and compliance with export control and other applicable laws.

The company is an equal opportunity employer and selects the most qualified candidate regardless of race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation and pregnancy), marital status, national origin, age, veteran status, disability, genetic information, or any other legally protected characteristic.
