Software Engineer, Ad Signals

Description

The company runs a platform built around communities, where users post, vote, and comment on topics they care about. It hosts more than 100,000 active communities and about 130 million daily active unique visitors, making it one of the largest sources of information online.

The company is looking for a senior backend engineer to build the app conversion signals behind its app advertising business. The work covers MMP integrations, SKAN processing, and App CAPI, with the goal of making app installs and in-app events more dependable and simpler for advertisers to connect.

Advertisers rely on conversion signals to judge campaign results and decide where to spend. Lost events, duplicate records, mismatched mappings, and hard-to-use integrations weaken that trust. You will improve the systems and diagnostics that make these signals usable for measurement and downstream ad systems.

Responsibilities

• Take backend projects across MMP, SKAN, and App CAPI from requirements and design through build, launch, and ongoing operation.
• Build scalable ingestion and processing services with clear contracts, validation, deduplication, recovery from failures, and data lineage.
• Create integration tools and diagnostics that let advertisers and partners find and fix signal delivery problems.
• Review signal quality and delivery metrics, look into discrepancies, and rank improvements with product and data science partners.
• Work with partner engineers and downstream consumers to change schemas and integrations without breaking existing advertisers.
• Build privacy and security requirements into system design and keep those controls in place across the data lifecycle.
• Improve engineering quality through testing, design reviews, incident reviews, and mentoring.

Requirements

• Proven senior-level backend experience building and running scalable production systems.
• Hands-on experience with app ads signals or mobile measurement, including depth in MMP integrations, SKAN, or app conversion APIs.
• Strong skills in programming, API design, distributed systems, and SQL, along with independent problem solving and data investigation.
• Clear communication and a track record of delivering results with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Pay includes base salary plus eligibility for equity in the form of restricted stock units. Depending on the position, a commission may also be available.

The company lists base salary ranges for all US-based postings, regardless of state. Ranges are set by function, level, and country, benchmarked against companies at a similar stage. Final offers depend on factors such as skills, depth of experience, and relevant licenses or credentials, and may fall outside the listed range.

The base salary range for this position is $190,800 - $267,100 USD.

The work is 100% remote, or you can choose one of four office locations for hybrid or onsite work in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Chicago.
