Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure Engineering

The Infrastructure Engineering team aims for reliability, performance and efficiency on one opinionated technology stack. It provides a scalable, automated base for compute, deployments, storage and high-performance messaging so developers can move quickly and systems stay resilient.

This central role fills openings on several teams. Messaging builds a reliable, fast and efficient platform for asynchronous communication across all products and services. Compute builds a resilient, high-performance and cost-effective layer that simplifies deploying and running applications across systems. Build & Deployment builds platforms and developer tools so engineers can build, test and ship software safely across the infrastructure. Consumer IAM provides authentication, authorization and account services. Core Systems & Libraries builds the foundational services behind the company's products. Security builds software that strengthens the security and reliability of the infrastructure. GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) builds software and automation that manage risk, monitor controls and scale security and compliance programs.

Responsibilities

• Work with Product Management, Product Design, Data Science and iOS, Android and Web client engineers to turn business and user needs into reliable, low-latency technical solutions.
• Own major product initiatives from start to finish, including technical design docs, API contracts, development, testing, rollout and observability.
• Design, build and evaluate A/B experiments, and analyze user behavior, conversion funnels and retention loops with tools such as BigQuery, HEX or Firebase to guide engineering decisions.
• Build and maintain scalable APIs using GraphQL, REST and gRPC, along with distributed backend services that serve client needs and consumer UI performance.
• Set engineering best practices, improve developer workflows, and use modern AI-integrated tools to ship high-quality work efficiently.
• Guide peers through mentoring and coaching.
• Help choose, scope and drive high-leverage projects that match the company's goals.
• Carry out a strategy that makes the authentication, authorization and identity architecture faster, more scalable and higher quality.
• Work across many cross-functional teams throughout the wider engineering organization.
• Keep building your technical and non-technical skills.

Requirements

• You have 5+ years of experience building internet-scale software, preferably with a focus on machine learning storage infrastructure.
• You write software in at least one general-purpose language such as Golang, Python, C++ or Java.
• You have hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS and GCP.
• You have implemented features, optimizations and bug fixes in distributed messaging systems.
• You communicate clearly with stakeholders in engineering, data science, machine learning and product.
• You hold a degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical field.

Pay includes a base salary and may include equity in restricted stock units; depending on the position, a commission may also apply.

Base salary ranges are published for all US postings in every state. Ranges are set by function, level and country and benchmarked against similar growth-stage companies. Final offers depend on skills, depth of experience and relevant licenses or credentials and may differ from the listed amounts.

The base salary range for this role is $190,000 - $267,000 USD.
