Software Engineer IV

Description

This senior engineering role handles hard technical problems: finding and fixing faults that are difficult to isolate, and building new software from design documents that have already been approved.

The role also shapes policies and guidelines in your area and affects several development areas, functions and processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects across several business applications and answer for their technical delivery.
• Own critical projects, customer engagements and business processes, and advise junior team members on them.
• Build complex applications from approved designs.
• Create new, inventive solutions based on analysis that improve business performance and support corporate goals and strategy.
• Fix system problems when your manager directs you to.
• Keep projects on schedule and within specification.
• Work mostly as a team member, while also leading technical projects and acting as IT's main technical contact.
• Coach junior developers through code reviews, design reviews and unit test plan reviews.
• Find ways to improve processes and procedures, and share them with other departments to raise efficiency and customer service.
• Forecast and model using advanced analytical tools.
• Propose design changes to processes and applications, with wide freedom in setting assignment objectives.
• Take on other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Be eligible to work in the US. The company does not provide visa sponsorship.
• Typically a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field, plus 8 to 12 years of related experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are accepted.
• Deep knowledge of application programming and design, used to pinpoint issues.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Working knowledge of client/server networks.
• Ability to solve highly complex problems through advanced analysis.
• Clear understanding of how technology decisions affect business needs.
• Typically experience with structured application development and change control methods.
• Solid grasp of core business drivers, and the ability to turn those needs into technical solutions.
• Typically experience with object-oriented analysis and design.

Conditions

The role may require the evening shift, 5pm to 2am, with added demands at certain times of year to support a new client.

No licenses or certifications are required.

The role carries no supervisory responsibility and no budget responsibility.
