Description

This is a full-time, regular Technical Architect role in the engineering category, requiring a Secret clearance to start.

The senior architect leads solution architecture, model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering for the USTRANSCOM Joint Transportation Management System (JTMS), a large enterprise capability that joins transportation, logistics and financial processes through a COTS/ERP-based modernization.

The role defines and governs end-to-end architecture products, keeps traceability from mission needs through to solution design, and shapes digital engineering strategy to match DoD transformation goals.

The company is seeking this role for its work on the program and the team that delivers it.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and upkeep of operational, business, system, data and integration architecture for JTMS, using MBSE methods and the DoDAF and UAF frameworks.
  • Build and manage SysML and UML system models that capture requirements, workflows, interfaces, constraints and end-to-end mission threads, with full traceability.
  • Push the adoption of the digital thread, authoritative model repositories, configuration management and model-driven decision support across the program lifecycle.
  • Turn business, operational and compliance requirements into scalable solution architectures that support COTS/ERP implementation and enterprise integration.
  • Set integration patterns, interface specifications, data exchanges and interoperability requirements for DoD, Service, Agency and partner systems.
  • Set up architecture governance, modeling standards, technical baselines and design review processes, and brief senior government and military leaders.
  • Work with functional, engineering, cybersecurity, test and program teams to close gaps and risks and manage cross-domain dependencies.
  • Contribute to the technology roadmap, transition planning, implementation strategy and business process reengineering.

Requirements

  • Required: Hold a Secret clearance before you start, and be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Required: A bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.
  • Required: 7+ years of experience in enterprise, system or solution architecture on large federal or DoD IT programs.
  • Required: 5+ years of hands-on MBSE and/or digital engineering work in complex system-of-systems environments.
  • Required: Experience building architecture products in SysML, UML and DoDAF/UAF or comparable modeling frameworks.
  • Required: Experience generating technical documentation, reports and deliverables automatically from system architecture models.
  • Required: Proficiency with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw), Sparx EA or equivalent.
  • Required: Experience with enterprise integration, APIs and interfaces, data architecture and requirements traceability.
  • Required: A proven record of aligning operational and business processes with system and solution architecture.
  • Required: Strong communication skills for technical briefings and architecture documentation aimed at executive audiences.
  • Desired: A master's degree in Systems Engineering, Enterprise Architecture or a related field.
  • Desired: Direct experience supporting USTRANSCOM, DoD logistics, transportation, supply chain or ERP modernization programs.
  • Desired: Familiarity with digital twins, digital baseline management and AI/ML integration within MBSE frameworks.
  • Desired: Experience designing solutions that combine COTS/ERP platforms with custom DoD systems.
  • Desired: A demonstrated ability to extend MBSE tool capabilities through scripting, APIs or plugins.
  • Desired: Experience with one or more of cloud-based architectures, DevSecOps pipelines or zero trust architectures in DoD environments (AWS GovCloud, IL4/IL5).
  • Desired: Knowledge of the DoD acquisition lifecycle.

Conditions

Travel of up to 10% is required, and it is local travel.

The position can be worked from more than one location, so the advertised range is the national average for the role.

The proposed salary range is $114,600-$252,100.

Final pay depends on factors including location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior experience, specific skills and competencies, education and certifications.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits covering healthcare, wellness, financial, retirement, family support, continuing education and time off.
  • Flexible time off that lets you take the time you need.
  • Access to learning resources to support your career goals.
