Description

The company designs, manufactures, and delivers officially licensed sports apparel, jerseys, headwear, and collectibles for leagues, teams, and events. It runs more than 900 e-commerce sites and sells through digital, in-venue, and retail channels in over 180 countries.

You will join the FanApp team to build the next version of the shopping experience inside one shared app. The work centres on discovery, personalization, engagement, and conversion, with a focus on search, recommendations, merchandising, promotions, and product discovery.

You will work with product, design, backend, data, and platform teams on full-stack features that are reliable, quick, and measurable.

Responsibilities

  • Turn business goals into scalable technical designs with product managers, designers, and engineers, then build them to a high standard.
  • Review code, write documentation, automate tasks, and apply engineering best practices to raise the team's quality bar.
  • Own well-defined projects from design through launch, and help the team deliver faster and more reliably.
  • Design, build, test, and ship user experiences across FanApp surfaces such as search, recommendations, merchandising, promotions, and product discovery.
  • Find and fix performance bottlenecks, make the app more responsive, and build experiences that lead to purchases.
  • Add instrumentation and event tracking that shows fan behaviour, feature adoption, experiment results, and funnel performance.
  • Debug production issues, improve observability, and help keep release and quality standards high.
  • Build dependable integrations with backend APIs and services, prioritising performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Use A/B testing, experiments, and analytics to guide product decisions and improve discovery and conversion.
  • Explore modern approaches, including server-driven UI, personalization systems, and high-scale ecommerce techniques.
  • Look for ways to automate, instrument, and optimise engineering workflows and fan-facing surfaces.
  • Write clean, tested, maintainable code and deliver scoped features with measurable impact.
  • Lead execution from technical design to launch, communicate clearly, and deliver on schedule.
  • Apply AI and digital tools to improve efficiency, quality, and results, and stay open to new technologies and ways of working.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building consumer-facing applications or platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with modern frontend technologies and patterns, including component-based UI and API-driven applications.
  • Solid skills in JavaScript or TypeScript for building maintainable, scalable user-facing systems.
  • Experience connecting to backend services through RESTful APIs and building resilient client-side data flows.
  • Experience with Go, Java, or a similar programming language.
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests and supporting a strong code quality culture.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Preferred: experience building native apps, mobile web, or high-scale ecommerce experiences.
  • Preferred: experience with Server-driven UI.
  • Preferred: experience with search, recommendations, personalization, experimentation, or merchandising systems.
  • Preferred: familiarity with A/B testing, analytics, and event instrumentation for consumer products.
  • Preferred: experience improving performance, observability, and release quality for customer-facing applications.
  • Preferred: experience working in cross-functional product and engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred: prior experience as a tech lead on product or platform initiatives.
