Description

The company gives people a clear, predictable way to pay over time, with no hidden fees and no surprises.

The team is hiring a full-stack software engineer to grow it. The whole team is based in Europe, in one time zone, and works with a Silicon Valley culture.

The team's work reaches over 20 million people. It builds and owns the user journeys through which borrowers repay loans worth more than $40B a year, and it measures how those changes affect user behavior.

The work moves quickly and is agile. The team rewards curiosity, ownership and a builder's mindset. You will get clear objectives, the resources to meet them, and room to choose how you reach them.

You will learn from experienced teammates while working on problems at scale, and you will get to build something new and run it in production.

Responsibilities

  • With guidance from your tech lead and manager, split larger projects into tasks, ship them in phases, and coordinate with others so your work lands on time.
  • Work with product management, design and analytics across the product lifecycle: join ideation, explain technical limits, and help make decisions that weigh risks and trade-offs.
  • Help keep the team's systems running by building and watching metrics, escalating problems when needed, and taking part in keep-the-lights-on work and on-call.
  • Help build team community through growth activities, including taking part in interviews.
  • On-call rotation is a required part of this role.

Requirements

  • You have at least 1.5 years of experience as a software engineer.
  • You have designed, built and launched backend systems, and you are proficient in Python or Kotlin.
  • You have shipped web apps using a declarative UI framework such as React or Vue.
  • You have built and designed mobile apps, ideally with a declarative framework such as React Native. This is a bonus.
  • You can work through a large codebase, debug code written by others, and give useful feedback in code reviews.
  • You can turn a simple problem or business case into a solution spanning several software components, and deliver it as clear, well-tested, extensible code.
  • You take responsibility for your own growth and actively ask your team, manager and stakeholders for feedback.
  • You communicate well in writing and speech, which helps you work with the global engineering team.

Conditions

Base pay grade is L and equity grade is Spain 3.

New hires usually start near the bottom of the pay range. Pay depends on location, experience and job-related skills.

Base pay is one part of total compensation. This may also include monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech, and benefits such as 100% subsidized medical, dental and vision cover for you and your dependents. You may also be eligible for equity from the company Holdings, Inc., the parent company.

The Spain base pay range is €73,000 - €109,000 per year.

This is a contract of employment.

Visa sponsorship is available for this role, but you must be based in Spain.

The role is remote-first. Most positions can be done from almost anywhere in the country of employment, some need occasional in-person work at an office, and a few are office-based. All new hires are invited to an in-person onboarding.

Accommodations are available for candidates with disabilities during interviews, and for San Francisco or Los Angeles roles the company considers applicants with arrest and conviction records, as the law requires.

Benefits

  • Health coverage costs you nothing, as the company covers 100% of premiums for you and your dependents.
  • Monthly stipends for your tech setup, and for health and wellness options that suit you.
  • Flexible wallets for tech, food and lifestyle spending.
  • Flexible time off and generous holidays, plus Away Days for wellness.
  • An employee stock purchase plan (ESPP) lets you buy company stock at a discount.
  • Learning and development programs, parental benefits, and employee resource and community groups.
