Software Engineer - BackEnd

Description

The company runs a global online platform for luxury fashion, connecting creators, curators and consumers.

The team builds the technology behind that platform: a modular, end-to-end system that links the luxury fashion ecosystem worldwide.

The role is based in the Porto office in Portugal, the country's second-largest city, known for its history and a creative, cosy feel.

Responsibilities

• Join the Finance engineering team as a Software Engineer, reporting to the Engineering Manager.
• Help run and improve the financial systems covering platform transactional accounting, invoicing and reporting.
• Design and build new features and solutions across services and the platform, and maintain and evolve existing components.
• Turn business requirements into efficient, scalable solutions, and make sure all work is thoroughly tested and reviewed.
• Improve the quality, reliability and continuous improvement of financial flows by solving problems before they surface.
• Evolve the architecture of the Finance services and applications so they work smoothly across the wider company ecosystem.
• Investigate the root cause of reported issues and work with the team to define and implement corrective fixes.
• Monitor, maintain and support the services and applications the team owns.
• Work with Senior and Principal Engineers and with Data, Product and Security teams to set the team's technical roadmap and solutions.
• Work with other teams to confirm the technical feasibility of project scope.
• Grow your technical skills using modern technologies such as.NET, MongoDB, SQL Server, Kafka, Redis and Docker.

Requirements

• Strong in object-oriented languages such as C# and.NET, with a solid grasp of OOP principles, design patterns and data structures.
• Experienced with RESTful APIs and messaging systems, and take a contract-first approach to design.
• Care about code quality and have good knowledge of testing strategies.
• Able to work independently and make technical decisions that positively affect services and applications.
• Interested in financial accounting for platform transactions, financial reporting, and fiscal and operational documentation, and enjoy solving complex problems.
• Keep up with modern software development best practices. Experience using AI agent workflows in your daily work is a plus.
• Experienced with NoSQL and/or SQL databases.
• Experience with Agile methods such as Scrum or Kanban is a plus.
• At least 3 years of experience in software development.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
