Senior Product Software Engineer (Go)

Description

The company is a global information services provider serving professionals in finance, tax and accounting, risk and compliance, health, and legal.

This senior backend role centres on Go and the Kyte product, a SaaS invoicing tool for freelancers, sole traders, and small businesses that lets users create and send professional e-invoices in seconds, in line with digital invoicing rules.

You will carry out specialised development work on the product, writing advanced code, designing systems, and tuning software for speed and ease of use.

Responsibilities

• Help shape the product's architecture and features in Go (Golang), aiming for code that scales, is easy to maintain, and performs well for users.
• Work with product managers, product owners, designers, and frontend engineers to define and ship new functionality.
• Spot technical debt and refactoring opportunities as you build features, and clean them up along the way.
• Set and promote backend practices covering component architecture, state management, and testing approaches.
• Take part in Scrum ceremonies: daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
• Support other engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical advice.
• Track backend technologies and tooling, and bring in improvements where they make sense.
• Build thorough and advanced testing routines and processes.

Requirements

• Professional experience developing backend software.
• Experience building and maintaining production-grade software as part of a product team.
• Advantageous: prior experience with Go (Golang).
• Hands-on experience deploying and running applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and an understanding of how they are used day to day.
• A solid grasp of software design, APIs, data modelling, and operational concerns.
• Senior engineering experience in a full stack team.
• Ability to refactor incrementally within feature work.
• Experience with Agile methods such as Scrum and Kanban.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
• Experience with code review and mentoring.
• A willingness to learn new languages, frameworks, and tools when needed.
• A willingness to use AI tools to improve your productivity and code quality in daily work.

Conditions

The role is hybrid.

Candidates may be asked to attend an onsite interview at a company office.
