Software Engineer - Simulation

Description

The company builds devices that create a two-way interface with the brain, with the aim of restoring movement to paralyzed people and sight to blind people.

The team is building a simulator for the next generation surgical robot, which will install hundreds of tiny threads into the brain at scale.

Responsibilities

• You will own the full simulation of the surgical robot, including running surgeries and tests on it.
• Reproduce faults and automate verification so that tests run on every commit.
• Build the complete robot simulation, covering dynamics, sensors, actuators and interfaces to the product stack.
• Test the real robot software and firmware against the simulated hardware.
• Write automated simulation tests covering scenarios, regressions, fault injection and coverage.
• Make test runs deterministic, measurable and cheap enough to run in CI.
• Reproduce hardware failures in simulation to speed up test timelines.
• Talk to users, collect their feedback and iterate quickly on the work.
• The team is hiring at junior and senior levels; the main criteria are evidence of exceptional ability and a strong drive to succeed.

Requirements

• Strong Rust skills, plus Python for test tooling and analysis.
• Experience with robotics or physics simulation, such as MuJoCo, Isaac Sim, Gazebo or similar.
• Experience with async and concurrent systems, hardware interfaces, RPC and telemetry.
• Experience building automated integration tests and debugging failures across software and firmware.
• You use AI agents effectively to speed up your work without lowering quality.
• Bazel experience is a plus.
• Required: a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering, computer science or physics, or equivalent practical experience.
• Base salary is $151,000 to $281,000 USD. Actual pay depends on your skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
• Full-time employees also receive equity in the form of RSUs.
