Description

The company builds devices that create a two-way interface with the brain. They are aimed at restoring movement for paralyzed people and sight for blind people, and at changing how people interact with digital systems.

The Infrastructure Team builds the systems the company runs on, covering cloud and on-prem environments. Its users range from highly technical engineers to non-technical scientists and doctors, so everything it supports has to be reliable and secure.

This role works closely with the Mechanical Engineering teams across the company. It covers the full range of the environment, including next-generation surgical robots, hardware on the manufacturing line, and neural implants and chargers.

Focus areas include building the foundations mechanical engineers use to design surgical robots and implants, and running SOLIDWORKS and PDM.

Responsibilities

  • Own the performance, reliability, upgrades and new-hire setup for SOLIDWORKS and PDM.
  • Administer PDM, including users, permissions, workflows, Toolbox and vault performance.
  • Build CAD CI that validates and releases models and drawings automatically.
  • Connect PDM with design-control and manufacturing systems so BOMs, DMRs and build routes are automated.
  • Build secure on-prem infrastructure for 3D printers and machine shop tooling, including internal quoting.
  • Set CAD and tooling standards across the company.

Requirements

  • Put users first in everything you build.
  • Have experience administering SOLIDWORKS PDM or a similar PDM or PLM system.
  • Have built CAD automation with the SOLIDWORKS API, including macros and add-ins.
  • Be proficient in Python, C, Rust or Go.
  • Have tuned performance on workstations, file servers and SQL databases.
  • Have systems administration experience on Windows, macOS and Linux.
  • Understand networking well enough to secure on-prem equipment.
  • Be familiar with mechanical design workflows, design controls and BOMs.
  • Turn engineering pain points into working tooling quickly.
  • Have a deep understanding of modern networking and common protocols.
  • Be able to design, build and ship new infrastructure from scratch quickly and efficiently.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent field, or have equivalent experience.

Conditions

Base salary range is $123,000 to $216,000 USD. Actual pay depends on skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Full-time employees also receive equity in the form of RSUs.

Tech stack includes SOLIDWORKS, SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional, the SOLIDWORKS API (VBA, C/.NET), Python, Microsoft SQL Server, Active Directory, PowerShell, Bash, Intune, MDM, Bazel, Nix, Ubuntu, Fedora and Windows.

Benefits

  • Work with some of the sharpest experts from many different fields.
  • Fast promotion for people who have a large impact.
  • PPO medical, dental and vision insurance.
  • Paid holidays.
  • Commuter benefits.
  • Meals provided.
  • Equity (RSUs), for full-time employees only.
  • 401(k) plan, with interns initially excluded until they work 1,000 hours.
  • Parental leave, for full-time employees only.
  • Flexible time off, for full-time employees only.
