Software Engineer – Site Reliability Engineering

The role is a Software Engineer position focused on systems design and reliability. You will join a small, experienced team building a bare-metal trading platform from scratch.

Responsibilities

• While on the team on-call rota, you will own the system design, deployment, configuration and day-to-day operation of the physical infrastructure: servers, switches, storage and other specialised hardware platforms.
• You will also own the trading application environment, built from artifacts that developers and researchers deploy continuously.
• You will run the observability stack for the entire platform.
• You will run the intent-driven system that manages every element as one coherent system.
• You will work with traders, researchers, application developers and other internal teams, as well as external service providers.
• You will resolve complex issues in a critical production environment, applying quick practical fixes that are later turned into engineered solutions.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a solid grasp of computer science fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with Linux systems.
• A proven record of designing and delivering scalable systems in production.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
• A deep understanding of servers, switches and operating systems.
• Expertise in synchronising and distributing ultra-precise timing signals.
• Knowledge of low-latency systems, trading environments, market data or exchange protocols.

Conditions

The team is small and experienced, and the platform is a greenfield build.

The role includes participation in the team on-call rota.
