Caching SRE Lead

Description

The company is hiring a Caching SRE Lead to help build highly reliable, scalable and resilient caching platforms that support critical business services in a complex enterprise setting.

You will use software engineering, automation and sound incident response to keep the systems and platforms behind those services dependable.

This is a Vice President level role. Depending on the setup, you may lead a team of specialists or act as a subject matter expert who guides technical direction and coaches less experienced colleagues.

Leaders also help shape strategy, plan resources, budgets and policies, and escalate breaches of policy or procedure.

Responsibilities

• Keep services available, fast and able to grow through proactive monitoring, upkeep and capacity planning.
• Respond to outages and disruptions, analyse what went wrong, and put measures in place to stop similar incidents recurring.
• Build tools and scripts that automate routine operations, cut manual effort and strengthen system resilience.
• Monitor performance and resource use, find bottlenecks, and apply performance tuning practices.
• Work with development teams to build reliability, scalability and performance into the software development lifecycle.
• Work closely with other teams so that operations run smoothly and efficiently.
• Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership and senior management, on the impact and alignment of work across functions.
• Manage and mitigate risk through assessment, supporting the control and governance agenda.
• Track industry trends and innovations, and contribute to internal technology communities to build technical excellence.

Requirements

• Proven experience running and troubleshooting Redis at scale, covering clustering, replication, high availability, backup and recovery, and performance tuning, with quick issue resolution in mission-critical environments.
• Hands-on experience deploying, upgrading, scaling and troubleshooting applications on Kubernetes or OpenShift in production.
• Strong SRE background in service reliability, incident management, observability, automation and operational excellence.
• Strong Python skills for platform automation, self-service tooling, operational workflows and service lifecycle management.
• Highly valued: experience in the financial domain.
• Highly valued: experience with Kafka-based event-driven architecture.
• Highly valued: experience with AIOP processes and methods.
