Description

The company's Treasury Analytics Group builds and runs the systems, data platforms and infrastructure that help measure, monitor and manage liquidity and market risk across Canada and the U.S.

The group works with Treasury and Balance Sheet Management teams covering Investments, Liquidity Risk Management, Non-Trading Market Risk and Cash Management. Liquidity reporting and risk platforms keep evolving, so the work involves building and modernizing business-critical technology in a regulated banking setting.

The team values ownership, engineering discipline and automation.

This is a Site Reliability Engineer Lead role. You will lead the delivery, operation, modernization and lifecycle management of cloud, database, analytics and infrastructure platforms that support Quantitative Risk Management (QRM).

You will manage a multidisciplinary team of cloud platform engineers, database platform engineers, DevOps engineers and application infrastructure specialists. The role mixes technical leadership, people management, program management, architecture governance, operational ownership, stakeholder management and hands-on engineering.

The job is hands-on. You need real technical depth along with disciplined execution and leadership, and your work keeps critical platforms stable, secure, scalable, resilient and compliant as business needs change.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the long-term roadmap for cloud, database, analytics and infrastructure platforms, keeping it aligned with business priorities, architecture direction, security requirements and technology standards.
  • Lead modernization and delivery by driving platform upgrades, cloud adoption, automation, lifecycle management and technical debt reduction, and by coordinating complex platform initiatives to completion.
  • Set up engineering practices, operating models, monitoring, performance management, resiliency controls and support processes that raise platform availability and lower operational risk.
  • Give technical direction and architectural guidance, and define platform standards, governance processes, operational controls and reusable engineering patterns.
  • Lead, mentor and grow platform and infrastructure engineers through coaching, career development, hiring, onboarding, succession planning and clear accountability.
  • Work with engineering, operations, cybersecurity, architecture, risk, compliance and business stakeholders to settle priorities, manage dependencies and deliver lasting technology outcomes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in cloud, infrastructure, database, platform engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams or large technology programs.
  • Experience running enterprise-scale platforms that support mission-critical applications.
  • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, database platforms, DevOps, automation and platform operations.
  • Proven record of delivering large-scale platform transformations and modernization programs.
  • Experience working in regulated enterprise environments.
  • Preferred: experience designing or operating Microsoft Azure or AWS platform services.
  • Preferred: experience with SQL Server platforms, high-availability technologies and disaster recovery.
  • Preferred: experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery, release automation and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
  • Preferred: automation experience using PowerShell, Python or comparable scripting languages.
  • Preferred: experience with Windows Server, Linux, monitoring, observability, performance engineering, business continuity or site reliability practices.
  • Relevant experience outside this list is welcome if your background and leadership record fit the purpose of the role.
